I honestly have no problem with ending up on Parker. Not nearly as much as I do with Swarbrick's glasses he has on, or just his general point of view towards everybody. But let's go kill some defenses. I'm psyched.

I'll feel better if we see some positive happenings with the OL coach situation, but I agree. Sure I wanted a home run hire, but there's a lot to like about the situation as is with Parker and Guidugli.

I'm rooting for this guy, if for no other reason, the amount of mockery and negativity that's coming his way because he landed a job that a bunch of other people fucked up.

I am rooting for him because he his now the OC of the Irish. I don’t want to see them so bad and lose. If anyone wants to see him do bad are they a fan?

ND sources seem to have left out the role Kirk Ciarrocca played in the play caller duties at end of year Parker received. Some commentary from WVU reporter:

During the open week (they were 2-4), they reorganized the offensive staff by basically elevating Parker and getting Ciarrocca more involved. This led to a whole thing where Chris and I talked about it on the podcast -- Brown was not calling the plays and Ciarrocca was visibly active with Parker in the box -- and a few of us asked about Parker/Ciarrocca in the next news conference. Brown was squirrelly and WVU later called me to explain what he meant to say.

What I'm told now is that Gerad Parker and Kirk Ciarrocca are now the main players in play-calling, if not the offense. It's still cooperative in that all the coaches are in charge of some amount of input during the week, and then those sideline duties to get a play to the players are largely the same, but as it relates to Parker and Ciarrocca, "they're calling it."

What I was told is that if this looks a bit like Penn State of the prior two years -- Parker was there in 2019, Ciarrocca in 2020 -- that's not a coincidence.

Now ... is Ciarrocca calling plays? This requires some more work for me to answer or explain. I'd also add that how we all define "calling" is open to interpretation. You could probably be very involved/influential and not actively call the play.

Anyhow, as I understand the rule and have had the rule explained to me, WVU can authorize one person who is not part of the on-field coaching staff to wear a headset and communicate during the game. But he can't call plays. Could that person be part of the funnel -- that is, "be very involved/influential" -- that leads to Travis Trickett signaling the play? Of course. And that'd be legal. But as far as Cirarroca saying, "OK, let's run Flanker Right X Tight Fuzz," I think that'd be frowned upon. It'd be hard to prove, too.

The only questioned is why Fickle didn't take him to Wisconsin as his OC - but that gets answered quick in that he got the opportunity to get Longo.
He did a great job developing Ritter which trumps anything BK and Rees have done over the same span of time.
I do think Freeman is making lemonade here.

Awesome. So Willem DaParker probably wasn't even calling the plays for the 6 entire games of his career he was earlier given credit for.

He called plays for a good Cincy team under a great coach. I am guessing he will be heavily involved

When he was given full play calling duties, he improved WVU's overall offensive output by a full TD, and WVU went 4-2 as opposed to 2-4 before he took over.
