The book is clearly out on Parker and Irish. Duke and Louisville essentially defended ND the same way to great success...Eliminate the run at all cost and force the Irish to beat you through the air. ND's WRs don't appear capable (nor do I think Hartman trust them) at the moment and Parker seems to lack creativity.
You can make up for talent at WR if you have creativity in your play designs or your play calling ability. GP has neither.
The only adjustment he made was targeting Faison when Flores got hurt. It worked. They then reverted back to Flores. Faison wasn’t seen again.
Does that mean Faison is more talented than Flores? No. It means GP adjusted to Louisville who wouldn’t know how to cover Faison because there’s no film on him. The only balls to Flores seem to be mid-range go routes. Flores isn’t skilled enough to make adjustments during the throw to come down with it yet GP kept calling it.
And instead of giving Mitchell Evans more targets, he force fed Tyree and Flores to the tune of 5 targets a piece before Evans had his 3rd target.
To make matters worse, instead of feeding the hot hand in Love, they forced Estime to run straight ahead into a stacked box with inexperienced guards. Again, no creativity or rhythm to the play calling.
And when he decided to get creative, it was 3rd and 1 with an obvious running formation and a play that took way too long to develop with an overmatched interior OL.
