I need to take a video. Both of my dogs are in heat at the moment and apparently have turned gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). Anyway they take turns air humping each other then turn around and stick their vajayjays next to each other. They can't seem to stop, so most of the time I have to send them to jail (crate) just to get them to stop for a few minutes.

Yeah, when my wife's poodle gets it's hair cut, her chihuahua will try to get frisky with him a little bit....not full on XXX, but definitely a little dry humping or air action. They're both dudes. My buddy has some little dog (don't know the breed) and a weiner dog, both males, and they do the same thing when the first dog's hair get trimmed.

It can be good or bad, depends on the dog. Most dogs don't care for it at first because it's new, but given time it can become "home" if that's where they end up sleeping at night. We had problems with my wife's dogs tearing stuff up or making messes when she first got them, but we crate trained them at night and that helped things out greatly. Now they like sleeping in there, it's home and makes them feel safe I guess, or we put them in there if we're going to be away from the house for a bit. Some dogs definitely don't like it though. My parents used to have a thin, steel cage for their boxer when she was a puppy. When she was nearly full grown she was strong enough to push the door out and bend/break the door open. She never really liked that cage, but she was easy to train so she didn't stay in it long.

UND Mackie (Our Bulldog shared in the pet thread) Is super chill, doesn't mess or tear stuff up but she IS super stubborn when she doesn't want to do something, I can imagine getting her in a crate would be difficult. She just sleeps with my youngest anyway and lays around while we are gone, but I have noticed most other dog owners use crates... never knew.

Some dogs don't require them, but they can be super helpful when training young dogs that have a lot of energy or for breeds that chew a lot in their younger years. For the dogs that get used to the crates it can become a safe haven, but yeah...some dogs are too stubborn and will never willingly go if told to.

We used to keep our Husky crated during the day when we were at class/work, and again overnight.

She was too energetic to leave to her own devices when she was young (I'm not talking standard "husky energetic," I'm talking "got the cokehead of the litter" energetic). She hated it, and was smart enough to stick her snout through the bars and lift the locking mechanism, so we found her outside of the crate a few times when we would get home.

We started zip-tying the door to the upper and lower frames so even if she got it unlocked, it still had no way to open.

But, once we moved into our new (now old) place, we gave her a trial run of roaming the house during the day and at night. That little bit of freedom did a lot to mellow her out, and most of the bad behavior that we would crate her for had been corrected.

She hated the crate, but it worked, and I guess it made her realize that she needs to appreciate the freedom and behave now that she has it lol
