It's hard to find things to complain about with such a dominating win. But the Irish WR (and J Love) dropped some easy passes early in the game when it was semi-close. They did made some great catches later in the game, so that does help off-set the early issues here. Also, the punter sucks and I still don't feel comfortable with either kicker. The Irish are going to have another close game and they absolutely must clean up the K and P issues! Special Teams weren't all "special" though. The punt block unit was outstanding!

Imagine if even a year ago someone told you:

“In 2024, Indiana will be in the college football playoff, and Florida State will be a 28 point underdog in a game.”

Seems Rendell was trying to 'place' his punts?? I don't get it either.

Price was a workhorse last night. 10 different receivers, and defense was stellar which they should be against such an inferior team. FGs need to be sured up - may need them later in the season.

Watched 1H at home & then watched 2H at friend’s house where the sound was down. Two questions:

1.) what did they speculate was said by Denbrock to RL after they had to settle for FG? Camera showed him trying to talk to him on sideline but RL looked to be uninterested & Freeman seemed to step in

2.) was Blackledge really criticizing ND for scoring late when they had the backups in?

They speculated that Denbrock was telling Riley he should have targeted Cooper Flanagan on that particular play. Blackledge did criticize ND saying there was some unnecessary scoring against FSU.

I have thought the same thing about Rendell……I have to think that’s what the coaches have told him to do but the distance on them has been subpar.

Denbrock was pissed because Flanagan came open right as Riley bailed on the play. Needed to be patient and let the play develop there.

Was at the game last night. First time back in Elkhart/ND since I went to college in 2014. Was awesome being around campus again, with my dad who was an alum in 92 telling the stories we’ve heard a hundred times. I brought along a recorder to make sure I get the stories saved somewhere. He isn’t that old yet, but I also dont know how many games I’ll have left in ND stadium with him. This honestly may be the last. But it was a great game. And I found out, it was the first time he had ever done the players walk. So that was particular special.

I’ll comment more on the game later. But the highlight actually just happened. On my way back to the airport to head home, I saw Watts’ dad getting on the same shuttle as me. So I had the chance to tell him I love his kid, and I love him and his story. You can check my posts, I’ve always had a soft spot for Watts for some reason. And when he popped off last year, idk if anyone could be happier than me unless they were blood related to X. I truly love that kid and his dad as much as a stranger could. I considered that a final grace offered by God on this incredible trip.

I thought they said he had Evans as the first read in the flat for an easy 1st down and probable td? He missed high to Faison which woulda been a hell of a catch.

I believe Blacledge took issue with too many passes after the game was decided, especially after Jelly hit Colzie... as soon as he said it, i immediately remembered a passage from Holtz's book about when he first got to ND and Bobby Bowden ran it up on him..

"There were three times I had a problem at midfield (in my career)," Holtz told May. "Usually you try to congratulate (the other coach) and say something positive about the other team. I got to coach Bobby Bowden after and said 'Bobby, we're friends! Why did you run the score up?' And he told me 'it's your obligation to hold the score down. If you don't like this score then recruit better and coach better. But don't ask me to lower my level of performance to yours.'"

Never miss an opportunity to repay them in kind.

It’s incredible how Al Golden’s defense tightens after the first drive, every single game.
I stated in a post a few games ago - it seems he lets the offense show their strengths and weaknesses in the first drive then AG sets the D for the rest of the 1st half then at Half-Time, sets the rest of the game-plan.

I had a similar thought, but almost moreso that he’s scripting his first defensive series to see what the offense does based off of some of his calls. He gives varied looks and sticks in them to see what the offense will do. That might explain some of the personnel groupings or pressure/lack thereof in situations we might otherwise expect it.

He's like Floyd Mayweather in the ring - take a round or two to download what the other team is doing, then shut it down.
LOL - right!!??

Golden should get DC of the year IMO - not being a homer either. He has done one hell of a job with all the injuries the Irish have had to overcome.

Likes Riley running as much as he did but didn’t like the lack of running plays or touches for Love or Price. Way too many easy catches drop balls out there. Like seeing the ball being spread around as usual. Angeli is a good backup but a statue waiting to be sacked.
Our punter is the wrist we have EVER had! Anyone can pooch punt and he isn’t good at that. No hang time anywhere to be found with this over rated hack. If army’s D plays is tough this dipshit might be the pivotal player in that game. Can’t believe he’s got a scholarship. Give someone else a chance. He’s had 9 games now and he still sucks.

Postgame Thoughts:
1) Rylie Mills with 3 sacks, FSU with 3 points.
2) I am impressed with the depth this team has.
3) The crowd/fanbase is behind Angeli, when he came in last night chats of "Steve" came from the crowd.
4) I've noticed from week-week how J. Love's blocking is getting better in our passing game.
5) Both sides of the ball took care of business- if Love didn't have a big run, Price did. Our LB's are fun to watch.
6) Game atmosphere was definitely a step up- fireworks were nice to see. Great game for our recruits to see!

Go Irish!

I love this. You will be so glad that you did this.

I lost my dad about 18 months ago. We were like best friends. He was even a groomsman in my wedding. There have been times where I have wished I could just hear his voice again.

Enjoy these moments!
