What was everyone's favorite play from the Nevada game? I'm gonna go with the stop on 4th and inches by the D. It was pretty cool to see the D pump up the crowd as Kaepernick was trying to call an audible and then stuff the play up the middle. Was a definite turning point as the game could have easily been 21-7 at halftime with Nevada getting the ball instead of 28-0 and game over.

Tough call! My favorite play was Manti Te'o sniffing out the screen and then just annihilating the poor RB. Me and my buddies were going nuts. Welcome to ND football Manti!!!

Tons more, fortunately, but you said only one...

I had five favorite plays.

Play One: Our place kicker making an extra point.
Play Two: Our place kicker making an extra point.
Play Three: Our place kicker making an extra point.
Play Four: Our place kicker making an extra point.
Play Five: Our place kicker making an extra point.

I can't tell you how odd it was not to get a queasy feeling when our kicker walked on the field.

Hmmmm. Brandon Walker was 39/39 on extra points last year. Maybe you should hold that thought when we need a big field goal.

My favorite play was on the first drive and we go for it on 4th and 1. Huge statement and Aldridge gets the first down and big ugly Sam Young gets up with his helmet off and goes fucking nuts and says FIRST DOWN. I was laughing and got me pumped up.

Yes, but there were plenty of PAT's that he barely hooked inside the uprights. Plus Tausch had some nice, deep kickoffs. We had only one touchback last year--not part of BW's duties but still it was nice to see.

It sounded like Tausch was great in the preseason with the FG duties too so that's good to hear.

C'mon people. The best play was Floyd's 2nd TD catch. A great catch that showed off his strength.

Rudolph TD catch
Floyd's 70yard catch (tate block)
Floyd's 88yard catch (on that play, you saw that we just have better athletes)
KLM fumble recovery (big play to preserve shutout)
No joke, every play Manti was on the field. (I think he was in on the kickoff to start that def series)

Manti's first defensive play he crossed line the of scrimamge seemingly out of the play, only to make the tackle 5-7 yards down field. I also liked the play NDinLA mentioned, the screen pass where he able to lay that RB out.

he was able to identify the screen, take proper position to stop the play, and in this case to lay out the RB. pretty impressive instincts (identify a screen) and physical ability (RB laid out) displayed by a freshman. As you know, a screen is meant to 'suck-in' a blitzing defense. Manti, a freshamn, on a blitzing team, could have easily been 'sucked-in' by the screen call in his first series he ever played in college football, but he was able to overcome that, make the smart, instinctive play...I was impressed and excited (in a manly way)

I loved the 4th down stop. I know everyone is hyped about Teo and rightfully so, but Toryan came up big Saturday as well.

The first touchdown was huge because, well, it's been a while since we marched down the field on the very first possession of a game. and both long TDs to Floyd were beautiful as well.

Sidenote, Walker is 2nd on ND's All-Time XP Place Kicking List - for accuracy.

The second play of the game (the screen to Rudolph) was a thing of beauty as well. Both backers were completely fooled on the play, and I'm pretty sure didn't realize Rudolph had the ball until he already had a first down.

When JC didnt see anyone open tucked the ball and ran for 7 yards. Old JC would have thrown the pick or been sacked.

I replayed Mccarthy's pick a couple of times. Great hands by our safety!

Floyd's second TD for me was my favorite because Golden threw a good block to spring him!

Speaking to the kickers argument (lol)---Watching the replay, I will say I was impressed with how Tausch's kicks "popped" when they hit the net. I know they are XP's, but he is drillin'!!!

I am not too worried about the kicking game. With any luck we won't have to worry about PATs. Like stated, Walker was fine on PATs anyway.

At the time of the play I thought, he's arrived. He can throw and now he's learned to take what they gave him insteading of eating the yards waiting for an open receiver.
