There are a lot of them...This question is basically out of curiosity of who would you want to lead us if CW got fired and or took another position...This is not a flame as I respect what CW has done and I still have all the faith in the world in him but we could very well be out of a HC next year if he doesn't win at least 6 games. I think he will tho. With that aside, my wish list would have 2 start with as much as I hate 2 say it, Jim Tressel. He is one of the best at maximizing his talent and making routine winners of OSU year in year out. He has gotten his team 2 an NC with Todd Boeckman at the helm, pretty impressive. His defenses are always ranked high and although he is not flashy on the offensive side of the ball, he manages the game well. The fault I see in him which turns me off is that he is a mediocore recruiter. On my shortlist as well would be Urban Meyer. He can flat out recruit though I have really lost all respect for him but he would definetly attract recruits with his charisma and style of O. Love him or hate him, he is good at what he does. My final canidate would be Jon Gruden. He would probably be my #1 canidate. I know he has repeatedly said he is not a college guy, but his dad coached for us and I'm sure he knows exactly how 2 run a succesful program. I love his attitude and love for the game. You can tell he really cares. He works hard and spends a lot of hours working. With his personality, there is no doubt recruits would flock 2 him on both sides of the ball. Thoughts?

Jim Tressel would be my pick As far as being a mediocore recruiter his classes usually have finished in the top 10 I think. Pretty good if you ask me.

Plus nobody pulls off a sweater vest like Jungle Jim. He's kind of an athletic Orville Redenbacher.

interesting....I never thought of him. I will always respect a man who cries sincerely at a press conference. All of his players loved him and still do.

I am not sure how to take this thread but if I am being serious then I dont believe JT would leave OSU for ND. I would not want Urban Meyer to ever step foot in ND as a Coach, NEVER!!!!

My short list includes:

1.Jim Grobe-Wake Forest, does alot with mediocre talent. A good developer. If Charlie goes that will be the reason.
2. Greg Schiano-Rutgers, I know he is waiting on Joe Pa to retire but I think he would take the ND job and he can recruit here.
3. Brian Kelly-Cincinnatti, A smart bright young coach who would do alot of good for ND. D Jones went there because of him.
4.Charlie Strong- DC Florida, A ND guy who I believe who do a great job and could recruit in the Southeast against the SEC schools.

I'm an Eagles fan (after ND) but I have grown to love Bill Cowher as a head coach. His intensity, that famous snarl on his face, his no bullshit, smash mouth football attitude, and he seems like a good family man off the field.

I wonder if he would be a good recruiter at the college level

I like Mark Richt at UGA. He seems to be a good human being, and seems to run his program the right way. I loved what he let his team do at the Cocktail Party after that 1st touchdown, too. Muck Urban Feyer!

I like Richt too... and of course I'm partial to Mangino.

I like Mack Brown. Not that he would come to ND, but I still really like him as a coach.

Lou Holtz, a current coach, Joe Pa. He is just classic. I also like Mark Richt's classiness. He is a good guy. Anybody besides Urban that guy can kiss my....

Mark Richt may seem like a guy good, but he has everyone fooled. Look at his graduation rates. Terrible. I wish I could remember how many bulldogs get arrested in the offseason around 7 or 8. Plus all the recruits with records already. Don't be fooled, he will do anything to win.

I don't know... for a coach in the SEC I still like Richt a lot... it would be hard for Weis to run a clean program in the SEC too I would guess...

Call it selective judgement but I consider that UGA's thing more than Richt's...

CW's done some fantastic things for our program. His recruiting is second to none. Personally, I'd like to see him coach for a long time to come.

Ditka..Daaaaaaaa Coach.....Ditka verus a Hurricane...Ditka

Nobody means business like Iron Mike

BINGO! although i do love Mike Leech from Texas Tech just because i love to watch their style of play. And it might just work with the sweet QBs we have and the WR's we have and will have... but we have too good of RBs to throw it 90% of the time.

Nice call I love Cowher, I just think he is an NFL guy all the way. His demeanor is 2nd 2 none.

Paterno hasn't coached since the mid 1980s. The guy is useless. he basically serves as another mascot for Penn St. I love the look on his face when his nittany kittens are losing. Since you said Paterno, I'll say bring back Knute Rockne. Didn't they go to grade school together?
