Official chart is out!
Here's the link

http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools...pdf/2011-12/depth_chart_event/depth_chart.pdf

As there hasn't been an official Depth Chart released yet...does anyone have a solid idea of the 2 deep for both sides of the ball just based on what all of the coaches have said?

I just want to have it all in one place so I can look it over.

The following chart and notes courtesy of Whiskeyjack and members of the community

Offense
QB-.......(1) Crist.........(2) Rees.........(3) Hendrix/Golson
RB-.......(1) Wood.......(2) Gray..........(3) McDaniel
TE-.......(1) Eifert........(2) Ragone.....(3) Welch
W-........(1) Floyd........(2) Smith........(3) Walker
Z-.........(1) Riddick......(2) Toma........(3)Farley
X-.........(1) Jones.......(2) Daniels.......(3) Goodman
LT-.......(1) Martin.......(2) Lombard*...(3) ###
LG-.......(1) Watt.........(2) Nuss*..........(3) Hegarty
C-.........(1) Cave.........(2) M. Golic.....(3) Heggie
RG-.......(1) Robinson...(2) Carrico*.....(3) ###
RT-.......(1) Dever.......(2) Nichols*.....(3) ###

*Notes: Nuss is the #3 OG, so he's likely the first one in if either Watt or Robinson goes down. Similarly, Lombard is the #3 OT, so he's likely the first one in if either Z. Martin or Dever goes down.

Defense
SDE-.....(1) KLM..........(2) Tuitt*.......(3) Schwenke
NT-.......(1) Cwynar.....(2) Nix............(3) H. Williams
WDE-....(1) Johnson....(2) Lynch........(3) ###
DOLB-...(1) Shembo....(2a) Spond......(2b) Niklas
MILB-....(1) Te'o.........(2) McDonald*.(3) Moore
WILB-...(1) Fox...........(2) Calabrese...(3) Utupo
COLB-...(1) Fleming.....(2a) Filer*......(2b) I. Williams
BCB-.....(1) Gray.........(2) Wood........(3) Brown
FCB-.....(1) Blanton.....(2) Jackson......(3) J. Atkinson
SS-.......(1) Slaughter..(2) Motta........(3) Salvi
FS-.......(1) Smith........(2) McCarthy...(3) Collinsworth

*Notes: I wish I had a better feel for how and where Schwenke fits into the depth chart. He might end up in front of Tuitt, at least early in the season. If Te'o goes down, I think McDonald gets the nod over Moore because experience trumps ability at the Mike; as the QB of the line, he has to make the right calls. The staff has said they consider Filer a 2nd starter at Cat this year, so it looks like Ishaq is the #3.

Special Teams
K..........(1) Ruffer
P..........(1) Turk
KOS......(1) Brindza
LS........(1) Cowart
KR........(1) Riddick.......(2) Jackson
PR........(1) Riddick

Ishaq's head is still spinning at the Cat (from what I hear). I would say that is the most difficult position in Diaco's defense and for frosh to come in and play would be impressive. I think letting Ishaq use his skills on ST and continue to learn the position while watching Fleming is a good idea. He is the starter at the Cat in 2012.

But who backs him up in 2012? #worried #thingsthatkeepmeupatnight

Guys...this is great! So helpful! Thanks a million!

Feel free to update this thread and I will post a depth chart in the original post...and if a mod could change the thread title to 2011 Fall Depth Chart or something that'd be killer.

a possibility would be to move councell to the cat and you would have two deep at the cat and 3 deep at the dog with prince, spond, and niklas or maybe move niklas over there to compete at the cat

three deep at the cat maybe with odenigbo!?!?

When did Kona get over taken by Tuitt? I understand that we all think Tuitt will play but form every practice video I've seen Kona was with the 2s and Tuitt with the 3s.

If Ishaq goes down Shembo moves over and plays CAT, while Spond plays Dog. Spond is backed up by Niklas and Councel

Who said anything about going down? Right now, 2012 depth at Cat is (1) Ishaq; (2) ???

I agree that Shembo probably makes a permanent switch to Cat in 2012, but that still leaves us without a #3 at what is arguably the most important position in Diaco's scheme. I guess we hope one of our current verbals takes to the position quickly.

Cat OLBs need to be superior pass rushers, so Shembo seems like the most likely to move. Councell was also described as a "prototypical" Dog OLB coming in, so he's probably less likely to be moved. I initially loved the idea of Niklas at Cat-- seems natural to have your largest LB with his hand on the ground-- but if he's as good in space as advertized, Dog is probably a better fit.

three deep at the cat maybe with odenigbo!?!?

That would be awesome.

My guess would be Niklas. He has been singing from Cat and Dog, but with a 6'7'' frame and 250, probably 255 next year, he is perfect at the Cat. I think Councell is a future Dog.
Diaco has said that Niklas understands his responsibilities better than Ishaq. Maybe we see another split time thing if Ishaq still hasn't picked it up.

Rabasa and or Perkins would look nice at CAT

Good point Niklas would also fit nicely at CAT.

None of us knows for sure. That Rivals depth chart made the same assumption I did in putting Tuitt before Schwenke.

I think the plan is for EJ and KLM to take the vast majority of snaps in our odd front looks on open downs. On passing downs, we'll bring in Lynch and Tuitt because (1) one-gap responsibility will give them the freedom to simply get after the QB; and (2) to give the seniors a blow.

In that scenario, Tuitt definitely goes in before Schwenke due to his superior athleticism and pass-rushing ability.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I initially loved the idea of Niklas at Cat based simply on his size and athleticism (though I don't know if he's a natural pass-rusher.) If, however, he's as good in space as advertised, then Dog may be a better fit for him.

Rabasa and or Perkins would look nice at CAT

My guess right now for 2012 depth at Cat is (1) Shembo; (2) Williams; and (3) Perkins/ Okwara/ Odenigbo.

What about DD being ahead of Goodie? Kelly has praised DD and said he'll see the field at times. Anyone know?

Eifert
Ragone
Welch
Koyack
Golic

Doesn't Ragone have some health issues right now? I thought I remembered hearing that in a video. The impression I've come away with after camp was that Eifert is the clear #1 with Koyack pushing Welch for the backup role.

Kelly has praised Daniels' athleticism, but he's frequently grumbled that he'll be "forced" to play Daniels before he's ready. It sounds like Daniels will play, but until he gets a better grasp of the playbook, he's unlikely to break into the 2-deep.

Doesn't Ragone have some health issues right now? I thought I remembered hearing that in a video. The impression I've come away with after camp was that Eifert is the clear #1 with Koyack pushing Welch for the backup role.

Ragone bruised his quad, which kept him out of practice for a while. That, combined with Golic's broken arm, is what lead to (1) Eifert (2) Welch (3) Koyack in camp. Ragone is expected to be 100% for the USF game, so by that point Welch will be #3 again with Koyack nipping at his heels.

I have a hard time believing that Nix isn't going to start ahead of Cwynar.

I was under the impression that Cwynar is the starter and Nix will be in heavy rotation with him...basically like Slaughter and Motta...keep a fresh body in.

The luxury of such a beasty D line is that there won't be any major drop off late in the game let alone on any downs when the starters are winded...

I expect to see lots of 4 man fronts too...so in a way that #2 DT really is another starter situationally.
