Cmon now who had a better NBA career. At least Rose was honest. (I know Hurley was in a life altering car accident, but I hate Bobby Hurley always have)

I really didn't like Hurley much either growing up, I really didn't like Wojo though! I do like Hurley 'going scoreboard' on J Rose though (3 & 0!), that's kinda funny to me. I don't follow the NBA much, haven't in quite some time but really didn't know that Hurley was in a major car accident, wonder where I was that year?!?!

The PG at Duke has never been that super scorer that Rose was with the exception of Jason Williams (not the limo driver murderer, the other Dookie that was in a motor vehicle accident). That being said, Rose may not have fit in on the floor with Duke at the time, I guess.

Really enjoyed this one

NOTHING like "the U". That was just a pat on the back of the Canes that overlooked all the losses and just glossed over the sanctions. Fab Five covered every aspect. Did a great way of explaining why they were so popular and why it bit them in the *** in the end.

Most interesting part to me was hearing Jalen Rose explain why he resented Duke and Grant Hill so much. Regardless of how you feel about UM these guys are grown men now. There is no Testeverde in this one.

Was anyone else impressed with the candor and intelligence of Jalen Rose? I really respected him for everything from telling the truth to investigators to sticking up for the man that supported the poor Detroit kids and saying he was a good guy over Chris Webber to how he acknowledged Duke as a superior opponent even though he disliked them. Just a very mature person. Also, him wearing 42 to spite his no-show NBA father and his reflections on Grant Hill I found very intriguing.

This.

I was very impressed. Very reflective, fair and honest.

first off, I would like to say I followed the FAB5 and was a huge fan of the fab5 and it solidified my uber-interest in college basketball during the early 90's. I was always a fan of UCLA (since tracy murray went there) and the 1990 UNLV team really got me into colege basketball, and then the FAB5 took my interest to the next stratosphere. The FAB5 were almost as exciting as the UNLV teams, but in a different way.

1. Michigan really was "The U" of basketball. Bunch of guys who have no interest in an education and just want to play ball. Epitomizes all that is wrong with "college" athletics at some places.

The Fab5 didnt get arrested for drugs, domestic violence, violence against women, or theft, etc. From that point alone, they are NOTHING like those (im going to say it) a**holes from 'The U'. The a**holes from the 'The U' still embrace all those stupid things they did and said when they were kids. friggen idiots.

I thought the documentary was great.

On the surface, it did seem similar to "The U" but I thought there were some big differences, most of which all of the UM players are well spoken and thoughtful, whereas the Miami players to this day still act like they are 18 years old.

exactly

Yes, I think Jalen Rose showed some integrity in the interview, and I believe Chris Webber could learn alot from his lead.

I loved both of those title games... watching them get CRUSHED by Duke the year before was great too... I hated Michigan even as a pre-teen, which was how old I was when all that went down... Still say that Duke team was the greatest cbb team I've ever seen.

1990-91 UNLV was the greatest college basketball team of all time; and I think the 91 team, that lost to Duke in the semis, was the single greatest team ever. to this day, there has never been a college player that could handle Larry Johnson when he was in college. In todays world, instead of being a JUCO xfer to UNLV, he would have gone on to the NBA. LJ was BEAST before BEAST was BEAST. and lets not forget about the Amoeba Defense, awesome.
jalen rose calling black duke athletes "uncle toms" was pretty innapropriate, so because they got decent grades and knew who their fathers are they are "uncle toms"...

i dont understand that mentality.

JR saying he called those guys unle toms, is Jalen Rose bringing you into his life at the time, and he wasnt candy coating it. As a grown adult, he doesnt feel that way now, but he was secure enough with himself to come out in the interview and say, this what I was thinking at the time.

JR was talking about what he felt about Duke when he was 19 years old. I am the same age as the Fab5, and back then me and all my friends hated duke too!! ..and we still do to this day. some of the reasons why we hated duke, are the same things that JR said. "all they do is recruit white guys, and 'white' black guys...." alot of kids I knew all said this. When JR said it in the 30 for 30 special, it actually made me feel even closer to those guys then I had already felt(being the same age as the fab5, and followed them very closely) I thought Jalen Rose was just saying what alot of ppl already thought, he just had the courage to say it like it was.

If the FAB5 special was like the 'The U' special, Jalen Rose would have taunted Christian Laettner, and would have made it clear that he still hates Duke to this day. He didnt do that, in fact, he even said that once he got on the court with Christian Laettner, he realized that he had game. I think Jalen Rose's interview showed how much he has grown since he was in college. Something that NONE of those 'The U' a**holes have done.

The FAB5 was nothing like those a**holes from 'The U'

Yeah i was online when the first airing came on and all i read was "Jalen Rose called Grant Hill a BITCH!!!"

After watching he really had a lot of insight about why he felt the way he did and i could completely relate. Guys may have made mistakes but they are men now.

fair enough, but it still highlights that young african american men feel resentment towards their peers that do what they are supposed to do in high school. for the record, i hate Duke as well, but not because their team is made up of players that actually care about their future outside of basketball. i guess ishaq williams is probably considered an "uncle tom" by some of his peers because he knows his father and is making a 40 year decision...

alot more than bobby hurley ever did....

really?!? You're that bitter towards this guy??... wow

I forgot when Rose cut down nets twice and was a higher pick then Hurley... talking trash to Bobby Hurley about what didn't happen in his pro career is one step below talking trash to Dennis Byrd over not being able to walk...

So much there to hate... so much...

;)

this has got off-base from what the original point....this whole situation is about what an 18-20 year-old feels at the time they are 18-20 and being able to speak about it freely when they are grown adults. And now, getting flack for talking about what you felt 20 years ago. The interjection of race is just harsh reality, thats how young kids think, its not politically correct, its just raw emotion (as 18 year-olds tend to be). I see it on multiple HS campuses everyday. at my job, the newest high school in the district, also happens to be in a very afluent neighborhood, has the absolute worst race relations in the district. why? because its a serious issue, it was the same serious issue for a young Jalen Rose 20 years ago.

Do you think present day Jalen Rose hates present day Grant Hill? I dont think he does, it would be shocking if he did. JR is grown now, and understands how things work. but when your young, you dont have that wisdom, it manifests in dislike, disdain, or hate. Jalen was talking about his feelings towards Grant Hill and what it is was like when he was young, not present day.

Which is why i said that Jalen Rose has grown alot since college, something that those aholes from the The U still havent done to this day. The idiots from 'The U' never got that 'grown up wisdom' they still hold on the things they were about in HS and college.
