The problem they will face is they scout out the young talent only to be able to not afford keeping it. This Napoli team is going to be raided by the English Premier League. Mostly the non Italian talent. It's a certainty. I want to see them win Champions League for no other reason.
Someone is going to offer Osimhen big wages and Napoli a massive transfer fee to get him. It will be hard to turn down.
I still think poaching front office staff will be the next frontier.

Napoli winning Serie A for the first time in 30+ years and having their best ever showing in the UEFA champions league to only then sell their best players that next summer window would be a very bad thing for Serie A in my opinion.
I understand if they sell Osimhen, his stock will never be higher.
However, if they sell Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia, and Kim all in the same window after their best ever season, then one could begin to question if Serie A is serious about returning to the tops of world club football.
Serie A not only needs to get back to attracting the worlds best talents like it did, but to be able to retain those top talents for years at a time.
Obviously, easier said then done.

Serie A's domestic TV money is half of the English Premier League's. They have a very small North American presence in that regard as well. Napoli may not sell all their top players in one window, but the vultures are undoubtedly already circling and they won't be able to keep the team together. If you can move to a club that can pay you elite weekly wages and has a top class manager, you're going to make the move more than likely, especially the non Italian players. Meanwhile, the elite Italians will all wind up at one of the top Serie A clubs. It's hard to retain talent outside of a handful of clubs in Europe that are able to do so.
I still feel like it is only a matter of time before the big clubs in Europe start going after the sporting directors so they can scoop up the players as unknowns for fractions of the cost. I'm surprised it isn't being done already since that's really what "moneyball" is to begin with. Buy low and sell high. Or in this instance, buy low and give a contract extension high.
It's all due for a reckoning and that reckoning is coming sooner or later.

More racist chants in Italy, more Hillsborough chants during a Liverpool match. You'd think the clubs and football associations would take some kind of a hard line. City and Chelsea both had to immediately issue statements Saturday and today respectively. Serie A, it's pretty much common now. See Piombino's post above. That's normal. Up and down the table, from one end of the boot to the other in Italy. It's sad.
Europe isn't exactly setting a high bar when it comes to sports behavior. I'm sorry, I just don't get it. I barely swear at my TV at home when I'm alone, so screaming vile stupid shit with others while in public at a match just really seems kind of off to me.
Maybe it was how I was raised.

FWIW, Juventus is working with local authorities to identify the offenders caught on video. They will receive a lifetime ban from the stadium. Juve, as well as Serie A, have also released statements publicly denouncing the behavior. While I agree racism is an issue, it's not going unaddressed. Unfortunately, stupid people are still going to do stupid people things.

Juventus wound up identifying the two key folks involved in the Lukaku video with the help of the local authorities - one adult and one minor. The adult is getting a lifetime ban from the stadium, the minor is getting a 10-year ban. I'd say they handled that pretty well - they've also been vocal on social media about their anti-racism stance. I'm not sure what more an individual club can do.
What irks me is the selectiveness of the outrage from the public. Serbian players being called gypsies and not a peep. Black players being likened to monkeys and folks around the world are coming out of the woodwork to post their support on social media. Classic selective outrage. Racism is racism. It's all disgusting and beneath what we as humans should be willing to tolerate in 2023, yet here we are picking and choosing which nationalities/ethnicities/skin tones are more/less important than the next.

They've done the bans all over Europe. These problems continue to persist almost week after week in the five major leagues. You can only begin to imagine what goes on in some of the lower tiers and in many of the other nations. To your point, the issue is more widespread and doesn't seem to discriminate. That's really my point. What they've done to this point hasn't seemed to make people adjust and the violations seem to be getting worse. Fines levied on the clubs, playing matches behind closed doors, etc. have to be the next step. I always say, start hitting people in their wallets and suddenly all the lip service, thoughts and prayers turn to real action. They have to do more to continue to moving towards eradicating it.
People know what they know. There is so much you can make out while watching a live broadcast and what's in the background that you are able to make out via sound. The more casual fans watching EPL on NBC/USA won't notice because most don't know what to be listening for. If you know what you could potentially hear based on the two teams playing, you can make it out. The Lukaku situation was two big clubs playing in a Coppa match. That's going to receive more reaction on social media and the net. Mourinho quieting his own supporters merits mentioning. Italy, Germany, France and Spain lack the TV exposure in North America for now. Like anywhere else, the bigger clubs are going to draw more attention when something occurs during a match good or bad.
The monkey chants and ape noises is pretty easy to spot and call out. People know it, it's Racism 101.

Really looks like Leeds is going to be going down. I hope they don't but they just look incredibly out of sorts. That Liverpool team hadn't scored an away goal against the current bottom half of the table and they put 6 past Leeds at Elland Road.
If they do get relegated, I hope all the American players on that team get out this summer.
