I have mixed feelings about international teams having managers of different nations. One hand, the whole point should be to pick from a pool of candidates from your own nation as you do players since that's the damn point of international soccer. On the other hand, it would probably benefit our USMNT significantly.

Since we are hosting this thing in 2026, I say go all in on Guardiola. Get him every resource he needs to go all out for the next World Cup. He's reportedly said no to Brazil and Spain. He's supposed to be the best. Make it happen.

I’ve been following the USMNT a long time,… I remember CR as a former captain America and a grinder. I never would have guessed this to be true

The Reynas seem like very toxic people from what I'm gathering as of late. He is perceived to have talent so people will look past it.

Meanwhile, Enzo Fernandez's 14 matches with Benfica and a World Cup have him going to Chelsea for $120M.

He's played 14 league matches with Benfica since joining them this past summer. Benfica should be laughing their asses off. Don't wait. Take this money now and sell him. $120M for a central midfielder. Completely insane.
For sure. Chelsea spending money like they still have an oligarch running the show.

Evidently there is no deal now and Benfica have outed Chelsea for how they went about the process.

Badiashile is a much better piece of business, and they may have dodged a bullet with Enzo Fernandez. I think he's going to be a very good player but paying that much money for a midfielder is completely ridiculous, especially one who has played so little for Benfica and just won a World Cup playing alongside Messi.

100% agree on the player assessments. As a Spurs man, I want Chelsea to continue to spend recklessly, sell Pulisic, and wallow mid table- with us possibly if we ruin another window.

The thing with Chelsea right now is they should be more concerned about who they are moving on rather than who they are bringing in. Sadly, I think Graham Potter is going to be another manager in the long line of Chelsea casualties who sees his career take a turn for the worst for having gone there. I really like Potter and admire what he's done at Brighton. He's in for a rude awakening now.

One of the things that really pisses me off is the thing that’s become part of daily life the past 10 years of people pulling out stuff from 25 years ago against people.

I can’t imagine what I did as a teenager that would “destroy” me today?

I mean, who here didn’t play the football game, “smear the queer” as an 8 year old?

I played it last Sunday with my son and nephews.
Now gtf off my lawn.

Gio Reyna seems to have a sense of entitlement to him, but we have no idea if he knew what his parents were doing behind the scenes. I don't think Gregg is a particularly good or bad coach. I do think Reyna has the potential to be an amazing player.

My sincere hopes are that Reyna did not know what was going on and that Berhalter gets a coaching job outside of the USMNT, but I am not going to be too beaten up if the next manager doesn't select Reyna at all.

After this, Berhalter seems like a bad coach, the Reynas seem like bad people. Blackmailing a lifelong friend is pathetic behavior. IMO.
Yeah, I’ve got a friend that we really don’t talk anymore, haven’t spoken to in a decade, but we were practically brothers from children all the way up to mid-30’s, and I know really bad shit he has done…but I would NEVER turn him in & blackmail is straight go to Hell stuff.

Yeah, crazy. My kids are really into sports so the breakdown I’ve seen as far as youth parents (my experience only):

Track and Field - Laid back. Can’t really complain when your kid lost the race. All events are black and white. Little to no drama.

Basketball - Some bitching about the coach in the stands. Some complaints about kid’s playing time. Not a ton of drama.

Football - Some lunatics. Emotional. May walk down to the fence line and scream at the coach.

Club Soccer (girls) - Some douche bags. Often high earners whose kids go to private schools. Send emails about everything. Switch clubs often because it’s the coaches fault for everything that goes wrong, never their little princess.

Overall, I’ve had great experiences with my kid’s sports but easily the most drama is soccer related. The best sports are running, swimming, wrestling, tennis, etc… where the scoreboard don’t lie.

This thread is pretty quite when Liverpool is trash.

Fulham making a run at European play in their return to the Premier league and Man City might be overthrown at the top of the table.

Serie A is the most interesting league in Europe, year after year the only compettive one. I dont follow it much since im not partial to any specific team and they dont have too many Americans. Last year was fun with Venezia and Busio, but theyre looking like the next Sunderland and Lynden Gooch.

I mean look at the premier league, the most up for grab year in a decade, and at best they will have maybe one of the non-traditionally big 6 clubs make champion league play. Would be the first time an outsider grabs one of those slots since Leicester did when they won the league. And still there is a good shot Newcastle fades away anyway. Really the only thing to watch for is to see how far Chelsea and Liverpool can fall in the standings, and if Everton or West Ham get regulated.

Oh and speaking of Sunderland/Gooch, they are within striking distance of making it back. That'd be an awesome story.

Agreed. I have no desire to discuss how fucking terrible Liverpool are right now. We went from chasing a quadruple to this in months.

And to monitor what Jesse does in Leeds. Needs to buy defenders.

City has one more point than Liverpool in the last ten matches. Not so fun fact considering how their standards have been the last few years.

Lecce are 12th in the Serie A standings but man those dudes are battlers.

Yeah I’d like to see their back line get improved before Marsch gets fired. Hoping that is the case. I think Marsch has been excellent but his defense has been problematic.

I don’t think I’ve seen a slower bunch than those Leeds defenders. It’s really strange. And I’m not even talking just speed, but slow to react too. Adams has bailed them out more than a few times this year.
