Went to a local Mexican restaurant last night where they have Mariachi bands and speak Mexican ( yes I called it mexican) as much as English... Great food..

I made sure to wear my USA soccer jersey to show these Mexicans where I stand. the looks by staff and other customers were classic... If looks could kill. The best part was my wife looks full mexican, does my step daughter... Made it even better... Lol

Just thought I'd share.

dat backline...Besler and Gonzalez killed it.

Yes. Mexico had 19 shots (1 on target). Great job from these two. I was worried about the center backs. Cameron is coming along nicely too. Congrats to Besler.

I have watched Omar Gonzalez with the Galazy for a few years now... I have said he is our future back there and even mentioned he's our best defender RIGHT NOW about six months ago...

now Besler... that was a suprise. Good to see.

I feared the worst when he suffered his torn ACL in 2012. Glad to see he has made a full recovery. Future looks bright for the back 4.

Team needs a consistent goal scorer so badly. Also, need a deep lying midfield "maestro". Both, very tough asks on the international level. If this team had Brian McBride and Claudio Reyna in their primes we would be a top 10 nation no doubt. Sadly that isn't how it works.

Still great result. Glad to see the fight and determination from a team that was roughly at 65%

Mexico is in bad shape right now points wise. I bet they end up pulling it out but dang, 3 points out of 9.....not good for them starting off. We only have 4 out of 9 and are tied in GD with Mexico.

I would love nothing more than to see Mexico just sneak in at the fourth spot and then lose in the playoff somehow to New Zealand. Honestly, I hate the Mexican Soccer Federation worse than USC and Michigan.

I wish the next qualifier was sooner than June

Bayern just handed Barcelona their worst ever European defeat to the tune of 4-0. We may be witnessing the end of an era.

HATERS GONNA HATE.

Barcelona's one of the greatest sides ever (not this one of course), but this was bound to happen considering they have struggled against teams with pace this yaer (Real, PSG,, and now Bayern). They don't have the pace in the midfield, and are really struggling in the back. Also, Messi is not fully healthy yet.

Bayern has been a ruthless team for the past month, and are the best team in the world. They are a machine, and they are getting Guardiola and Gotze next year. Ridiculous.

Is this the end of Barcelona's european dominance? Maybe, but they'll probably be back in the semi's next year with the right changes. They need to get younger, and the additions Neymar and possibly Hummels will help. They need to start transition the team over from Xavi to Iniesta, and start giving players like Sergio Roberto and Thiago more reps, as well as Bartra.

Bartra looked very bad today, heres hoping to the rest of us...that, that is who Barca is setting their future CB hopes on.

Bayern's 2nd and 3rd goals should not have been counted..for what it is worth.

Barca will go out and spend money on attack like they have the past few summer transfer windows, but until they fix their defensive problem. They will continue to struggle during European away matches. Tough to say they are in great decline when they are running away with La Liga.

Bartra is young, and has barely gotten any playing time at all, Throwing him to the wolves is pretty unfair to him. He needs more much more playing time.

Barcelona re hoping they buy Hummels during the upcoming transfer window, because he can help.

Bartra is young, so I wont write him off. Hummels would be a great addition, however I cant see BVB selling two of their best players in the same transfer window. Klopp has reiterated many times that he isn't going anywhere.(He would be perfect for Manchester City). I just cant see him saying that, if he knew three of his best players would be gone(Robert Lendewnoski) looks like he is leaving as well.

Barca has been an absolute pleasure to watch over the last 4-5 seasons, and they always will be with the worlds best player. But they must change if they want to get back to winning Europe. The lack of a "Plan B" is what really hurts them right now.

Dortmund already sold Gotze to Bayern, which is unfair considering they'll be getting Pep Guardiola next year.

The thing with Barcelona is that they are way too slow. They need to be quicker. Cesc, or Iniesta will hvae to take this team from Xavi soon, and Thiago is young but he's barely played this year. Think Arsenal. Quick and direct.

They need to be more direct from the wings too, and pedro and alexis aren't giving them that. The addition of Neymar could be huge, because Neymar can take on a defender 1 v 1 and beat him. Nobody in Barcelona can do that besides Tello and Tellos is 21-22. Just thinking about hte link up play between Messi and Neymar makes me drool.

Barcelona doesn't a plan b, they just need to tweak their style to suit what teams like Madrid and Bayern are doing.

Its a beautiful day when Barca loses.

I would have poured my beer on you last night if I had known you hated Barca!!!

Funny thing is I was about to bring up the game when another topic came up. But man, Barca got worked yesterday. Ugh. Bayern is loaded and playing phenomenally well right now, but Barca has some major issues, most of which have already been addressed in this thread. Gonna be an interesting off-season...

I'm still loving how bad they got beat... Clearly, they were still reeling from the whooping Celtic put on them in the group stages...........

So very happy. I've been a hardcore Bayern fan since the days of Ollie Kahn, Stefan Effenberg, Giovanni Elber, etc. It's been too long since Die Roten were on top of Europe.

HA! Good thing i was wearing a rain coat last night. I respect the heck out of Messi, Xavi is a personal favorite, but i cannot stand Iniesta and Alves. They are the primary reason I cannot stand Barca...

Ugh. So stupid. He is a dunderhead. At this point even though he is our leading scorer and works harder than anyone else in the EPL, sell the guy. His crap is too much too deal with. What a ****head

I personally think he got off way too easy with a 10 game ban. He's a repeat offender across many categories. He's a repeat biter for crying out loud!!! He's lucky he didn't get banned for a year, IMO.

I am technically surprised he was not banned more as well. The guy has pretty much admitted in every form imaginable that he would cheat to win to include a deliberate handball in the WC, a deliberate handball versus Mansfield Town , and admitted diving to secure points versus EPL teams. I have seen video of him punching someone in the face waiting on a corner kick. The guy is a disgrace. Why he thinks this stuff wont be on television is beyond me.

I put 50 bucks on Dortmund to win it all at the start of the group stages... could make for a nice little payout.

They're lagging Bayern by 20 points in the Bundesliga, though they've only played each other twice this season: a 1-1 tie in league play, and 1-0 defeat in the DFB quarterfinals. They'll face off against Bayern one more time before a potential CL final on May 4th.

That match likely won't tell us anything, as Bayern probably won't risk any starters in a meaningless league game. Regardless, I don't think Dortmund has the horses to go all the way; Bayern's ridiculously deep right now.

Chelsea doesn't think they can beat Bayern either...
