Correct. The field doesn't have equal course access. Which is why you see a lot of golfers practice on courses that have similar grass, sand, and shot shape requirements. During tournament week, on practice days, you'll see the old guys coach the young guys. JT almost always practices with Fred and Tiger, for example. You do what you can with what you have. End of the day, nothing is simulating the pressure cooker that is Augusta National, though. You prepare for that by continually being in big moments. This was a talking point at one point regarding Sam Burns. It's also why I was absolutely dumbfounded by Justin Rose's collapse around Amen Corner. He's been in big moments, he knows where and where not to miss, yet he still managed to piss away his opportunity. No amount of practice over the weeks leading up to the tournament would've better prepared him. At some point, you just have to rise up and take it, ie. Rory on 12 and 13 --> Go get your jacket.

People are complaining that Rory was playing Augusta 2-3 weeks before The Master’s. I don’t understand it. What’s stopping the other golfers from doing that? Sounds like he just wanted it more and it paid off for him.

Hard to complain about a 68 on Sunday at Augusta, but he also missed a ton of opportunities from hole 4 through 14. All pars!
I would have loved to see him take advantage of those par 5's a little more throughout the week. Outside of #2, he was -1 on 8, 13, and 15 for the week.

He has to look at how he scored on the back 9 par 5's for the whole week and wonder what could have been.

Past champions enjoy more course access privileges, not everyone has a private jet to make school drop off, fly to Augusta and be home for dinner. Others needed to play other tournaments to attempt to win and make money, work towards qualifications, golf ranking etc. Rory is a multi millionaire and the #2 world ranking.

It’s 100% a privilege Rory had that most do not, and I’m sure he’s fine admitting that.

Occasionally, the idea will pop into my head that asks, "I wonder what the pros would shoot on this course that I'm playing?" Then I remind myself that they're used to playing on incredibly manicured grass/sand/etc and re-shape my assumptions. A crappy bounce, bad lie, patchy grass, shaggy greens all work against the golfer. (Correct, I'm for the poors when it comes to playing golf courses.)

These guys are like machines and Bryson, in particular, is a psycho when it comes to controlling as many variables as possible with every single shot. I'd honestly be pissed too.

We play for fun. This is their job. When IT sends out an "update" that jacks up my laptop and I can't do my job efficiently, I get just as pissed. So I guess I get it.

I've grown in my golf fandom over the last few years, but I cannot see why the PGA wouldn't figure something out right away to bring LIV's only top talent back into the fold. LIV is literally on the brink of dying and if I was the PGA I'd figure out whatever you needed to do to get Bryson, Rahm, Cameron Smith, etc. to say the hell with you I'm going back.

I understand that side of the argument totally. However, I also would love more competition and star power in the non-majors throughout the entire golf calendar. Throw the guys I mentioned in with a few of their other younger stars and the level of competition would be so intriguing to me as a golf fan.

Speaking of this, did you see Bryson's crash out in Mexico because of the playing conditions a week or two ago? I kept thinking, that's just normal playing conditions for real golfer's you big baby.
