I was today years old when I learned lobbying is only done by oneside and that it is just a political issue. I hope my second day being born I can figure out whether Florida being underwater is worse than a carbon tax. Because as we know, it's a Captialist Gain lmao wtf.

This problem is so dire we need to pass bills to address it, and the bills are partisan junk. So why would a republican like me support that?

We need to continue advancing technology and human interaction to see what we can do, but one thing we don't know is, how much of this is truly self inflicted versus Mother Nature? Given we weren't around for the ice age, I suspect the answer lies somewhere in between, like most other political debates.

I have heard they got grant money from the state since the state is trying to bribe people to buy them. Since the state gave these stores the grant money they aren’t allowed to charge any one for the first 2 or 3 years. I have heard both.

1- Money for transmission and distribution upgrades. Too many stranded MWs.
2- Remove all Production Tax Credits.
3- Require load serving companies to maintain controllable generation sufficient to carry load requirements
4- Require power companies to carry sufficient weather protected generation to meet 90%of their load base.
5-Require RTO/ISO membership for all power generators
6- Require “green grass” cleanup for all power generators upon decommissioning. AKA cleanup after yourself.
7- Credits for hydro/nuclear to buildout supply chain infrastructure and then stop credits
8- Require US ownership and domestic control of power generation
9- Distributed Energy Market rules consistent across 48 states
10- Reduce nuclear regulations to be consistent with the globe
11- Develop nuke waste repository for spent fuel
12- Gas pipelines and infrastructure feeding power plants would require designation and become applicable to the same rules as everyone else providing power
13- Remove all restrictions on LNG by repealing Jones Act
14- consolidate ERO/NERC/FERC
15- Unrestricted mining in North America for battery components

Environmentalists and media should be swarming, but the only people concerned are random folks online and ... the libertarians. Supposedly animals are dying all over the area, and that nasty cloud is growing. This is one of them things I never know where to trust.

This is fucked. This is a big part of the reason all the rail workers were just striking. Cost cutting measures making shit like this inevitable.

How do you even begin to cope with that sort of devastation and death? How do you handle that many bodies and treat at least that many injured people, especially when a lot of your infrastructure just got severely damaged?

Indeed……the toxicity is severe especially the potential leaching into the groundwater. I could never understand why the National media seems to largely ignore many of these environmental disasters when they pose such a serious threat to everyone.

What narrative? I worked as an environmental engineer for many years and my well founded understanding is that preventing environmental damage caused by companies is never a priority but purely a cost associated with doing business which gets diluted as much a possible to get the best result with the least amount of money spent. There will always be chemicals that remain and the true extent will not be know for likely decades. By that time Norfolk will have done the bare minimum, moved on and paid very little money relative to damage they inflicted and the community will have to deal with it for decades.

There isn’t much the media can do to report on because the site isn’t safe to be around and they are likely being sent to an overworked understaffed EPA office or NS legal department which won’t accurately report what’s happening because any admission of what’s there is an admission of guilt And that can’t happen.
