One of the first ladies on television that had the boys swooning. Daisy Duke was patterned after her. Loved seeing her by the cement pond.

RIP Donna and thanks for the memories.

Man, Can't believe that she was 81. My mind had her frozen in time on that show. God Bless You...RIP.

Yep, she was a teenage boy's dream, be it by the see-meant pond, in Granny's kitchen, helping Jethro's feeble attempts at being a cool playboy or as Jed's unaware-of-her-allure daughter.

Donna Douglas, Elly May, lives on in my dreams.

I think your a little mistaken here. Daisy Dukes came from Dukes of Hazard and the short shorts that Catherine Bach wore when she played Daisy Duke

Unless you're referring to the character Daisy Duke

The Beverly Hillbillies was on in the 60's. The Dukes of Hazzard was 20 years later.

Both the Elly May and Daisy Duke characters were drawn from Daisy Mae and Stupefyin' Jones from Lil Abner cartoons starting in the 30's.

RIP Donna, thanks for the memories.

While Al Capp was revealed to be a racist, right-wing nut job in his later years, he was a good cartoonist who knew how to "round out" some of his characters.

I agree, Elly Mae was patterned after Daisy Mae. My point was simply that Elly Mae was the first to bring that type of character to the tube.
