For going out west I want to go Mt. Lion hunting.

You can shoot one in my back yard. A big male has a den 400 yds from my house. He strolled through town last year late at night and there were tracks in the snow all up and down the main street and several security cameras caught him just wandering around town. He killed a deer about 100 ft from my back door 3 years ago, and last winter I walked down the driveway to get my mail 10 minutes after it stopped snowing and found fresh tracks - he'd just strolled down my driveway a few minutes before. I've heard him a few times, but never seen him. The neighbors have seen him walk through my yard a couple of times though. My wife laughs at me for it, but I'm a little antsy standing on the deck at night. I don't stand with my back to the trees!

I'm going on a hog hunt in two weeks down by Okeechobee. Its a place where I never have hunted but my buddy swears by it. Chappy's Outfitters. I will post pics when/if I stick a piggy with the Mathews. If any of you guys wanna hunt Florida for hogs let me know, I know of a couple good places and we are LOADED with hogs here. Hogs are a great off season hunt (hunt yr round) that is affordable, usually.

Reason for High Fence Hunting in Texas- The place we go is enormous, and stocked full of exotics that are not indigenous to Texas. The main reason for the fence is to keep

1. Poachers out
2. Exotics on the Ranch
3. Private Hunting grounds

Even though the place is stocked, you may not see anything but White tails the entire time. In order to get around the Ranch we have to take Side by Side ATVs and ride for literally miles from area to area. It isn't a petting zoo, and hunting this property helps keep the population numbers healthy.

Hope that helps.

Elk in Texas, besides the southern Guadalupe mountains near Pine Springs, TX, is also considered exotic and non indigenous. Lol.

Good explanation though.

Seems legit and pricey.

Is that your cow in your pic?

I almost hate mentioning it, because it doesn't seem like folks are all that concerned (and thats good)

...but if you are going to pay money, and take an animal with Archery equipment, please note that Pope and Young won't accept entries from high fence operations.

I know...I know....I'm primarily a meat hunter, but through happenstance I actually shot a dear that mattered to the Pope and Young folks, and that was one of the first questions they asked...FYI.

Yes sir. This past year I took an Onyx and a Black Buck from the same ranch. It is truly a great time going down there regardless of what you see. I have an affinity for being in the middle of the woods, far far away from the daily grind.
