One Foot Down and Irish Illustrated are reporting that Eifert is returning next year. SIAP

I was wondering just in general- why does new about individual players get discussed in their recruiting profiles even though they've been at ND for a few years? Is it just what the mods want? Thanks

With Tyler and Manti both returning, I believe this really makes a statement about the ND program and Kelly along with his staff.

These were two players who were not just borderline NFL guys, but both would have been taken on the first day for sure.

In both cases, they decided that being at ND with Kelly was better than going to the NFL.

Kudos to both of them and to the ND program. For those Kelly bashers, he must be doing some things right to keep these type of guys.

GO IRISH!!!!

I love your enthusiasm, but Eifert received a 3rd round grade from the Draft Committee. Even with that, it was a difficult decision for him; he was leaning toward declaring until very recently (thank you, Coach Martin). If he had gotten a 1st round grade, I have little doubt that Eifert would be gone.

It still helps, given the midseason "rift" that was so highly publicized. No exodus, especially by Manti, hopefully sends a positive message to recruits and their families.

Depends on if we get decent QB play. If so, I'll take the over. Eifert will be our primary weapon next season, so he'll be in a great position to win the Mackey and end up the #1 TE in the draft.

Absolutely agreed. If Te'o's and Eifert's return shows anything, it's that the locker room spat over "Kelly's guys" was incredibly exaggerated.

I thought he was gone for sure. I'm glad to see him back for one more year. If he stays healthy he'll be the favorite for the Mackey I believe.

This kid is a beast.... I was praying he stayed he is such a Elite TE.. I watched him live and on t.v. the guy took layed some hits down ,and got the extra yrds. every time he had the ball...

sorry, but i will disagree with you. There will be plenty of kids who leave this year that are 2-4 round picks. Eiffert woudl have gone late second or third round which was still big $$. He said no and returned to ND.

Monte Ball just left Wisconsin and will be he is not taken until about 3rd round.
