It is Borges. Denbrock is still in the running and any of the other three could move into the qb coach spot if Denbrock gets the OC job.

What's the connection and or desire with Borges.... ? Certainly don't see that as a "BIG" time name. I'd take Quinn over Borges Gulf Coast offense in a heart beat. Not a bad OC, just like Quinn better. I would likely prefer Borges over Denbrock though I think.

Borges is very highly thought of in terms of QB development. If we bring him in as a QB coach he'd do a good job.

Maybe he was trying to make a Big Ten reference? Dunno.

No idea who their OC is but Malzahn is calling all the shots.

malzahn's OC i believe is a kid who played QB for 4 years for him when he coached high school...gus actually REALLY trusts the kid from all accounts and they work together outstandingly...i'd have to google the kid's name, but from all accounts he has a VERY bright future as a coach.

there'd have to be a lot of crow ate if borges gets hired around here.

pointing finger right at me....not a big fan of the hire if it turns out to be the case, but agreed if it's just as a QB coach i can deal with it.

That is what I was thinking. Pretty young and energetic too. But I believe that he is already pretty highly paid, so unlikely to leave to be an OC

I highly doubt we bring in Borges as a OC. If he comes it'll be as a QB coach with Denbrock getting the OC, IMO.

The difference between Jeff Quinn and Borges is 3 wins a year. Seriously. Borges is a buffoon.

Yeah I can't help but think that if this is legit, perhaps it's nothing more than BK doing someone a favor. I just can't imagine BK coming to the conclusion that this is a guy who can help this program in any way as OC.

I don't want him, but he did do a decent job at UCLA and Auburn.

If we can finally generate an offense like Cincinattis then I am fine with Quinn.

So lets see.. Borges sucks as OC. Hasn't developed one QB at his time in Michigan. Gets fired. ND passes up Alabama OC, UM Hires the same guy. And then ND hires Borges...

This would be a disaster of epic proportions. Just in a media sense.

LMAO this really puts the Borges thing into perspective for anyone who doesn't think it would be an EPIC FAIL of a hire. Reps

I don't think anyone would have to eat crow if we hired Borges as an OC, unless the offense turned out to be incredible. I also think he sucks and would be a horrible hire as an OC. I would be terribly disappointed in Kelly if this was his hire.

And I could write a thesis on how overrated Kiffy is as an OC. He knows his X' and O's and is extremely bright in that area. But as a play-caller he isn't very good, making in-game adjustments and not stubbornly sticking to his guns is also a weakness, and he falls in love with certain players way too often. He forced Barkley to throw the ball to Lee so much that he alienated one of the top receivers in football in Robert Woods and pissed the rest of the team off in the process. He also ignored the best back on the team (Buck Allen) and had him 4th string until he was fired. After that, he was unleashed and wreaked havoc on the Pac 12.

And as an OC at USC, Sark was the one who called the plays.

Kiffy might be better than Borges, but not by much and that isn't saying much anyway. I think Bama effed up big-time with that hire...

I presume this means Quinn is getting a job offer an the other two represent fallbacks if Quinn decides to remain at Buffalo? I can't see a scenario where Quinn's interview is truly meaningful insofar as Kelly's decision is concerned.

This might seem like a sideways move for Quinn if he became OC but in the long run it will open up a lot more HC possibilities for him.

If Quinn does come on I would expect it to be short lived relationship 2 yrs. maybe 3 at the most. He could really use the ND offensive coordinator position to launch his HC career to the next level (and of course give us a spectacular looking offense).

Win/Win for all involved.

more i think about it i really would be surprised if quinn took the job....maybe he's trying to get a raise from buffalo, but like mentioned from all accounts he's doing decently well there and if he were given another chance as a head coach it wouldn't be that much greater than his current position.

i unfortunately think this is more and more pointing towards Borges with hopefully Denbrock getting the nod as OC

If Borges is hired Kelly & Swarbrick are getting a strongly worded letter. What a nightmare publicity wise.

Can Buffalo even give Quinn much of a raise though?

Yeah, just looked it up and Quinn was recently extended through 2017. On the one hand, it would be disruptive for his program for him to take an interview so soon; on the other hand it's hard to imagine ND buying out a contract like that for an OC.
