Is anyone else dieing to see him play? I think that an offense is so much better when the opposing defense has to watch for the quarterback to run. It would add a whole new dimension to our offense. I would like to seem him get in in the final minutes of some blowout.

Ya Ive wanted to see him out there as well, but there hasn't been many opportunities for that to happen here lately anyway.

There is a rumor over on the Rivals board that he will be switching to WR this coming Spring. The individual says it's per Jones himself, but I doubt it.

Would be a great move if he's serious about seeing the field. Between Sharpley, Frazier and Clausen his chances of playing QB at ND are remote.

Remote is a harsh word given that we have never seen him play.

HOWEVER, if Clausen is all that and a bag of chips, it might work out better for him. If he's really a true Athlete and not a position player, I have no doubt he could make an amazing WR.

I wonder if he's having a good time in practice this week. I imagine he'd be the qb on the practice team simulating Navy's offense.

I highly, highly doubt this, at least coming from Jones. There was just a very recent article (I believe in the Chicago Tribune) where he was talking about how he was a QB and was gonna compete at the QB position.

It probably is a little harsh but when you have someone entitled the lebron james of high school football on your roster, I find it hard to believe you will not start him in year 1 or at the worst wait one year behind sharplely. I could be wrong and I know charlie will play the best guy. If I were giving %'s on those 4 as to who is going to start in GAME 1 next year I would go:

Sharpley 45.5
Clausen 44.5
Jones 5
Frazier 5

I only give the nod to Sharpley becuase I think he'll start maybe the first 3 or 4 games. And we'll go 2-1, 2-2, then the schedule eases a bit and the "savior" will come in to save us all from the NC drought we are in. Praise ye thee QB....

Why does everybody think that it will be Jones who changes positions? What about Frazier to TE? Keep in mind I have no info and have never seen either Jones or Frazier, I just don't know why everybody always thinks that it will be Jones who changes.

If Clausen is truly the Lebron James of football, why can't he switch to the Irish basketball team?

From another thread recently...

Me:
"My thoughts exactly.
Kamara, Benn & a position switched D-Jones.
Greg Little?? I don't like him at WR anyway.
Jimmy starts from day one with Evan & Zach backing up."

i don't see DD changing. he came in recruited as a qb, and i think he'll keep fighting for that position.

No they didn't but you just did, didn't you?

Jones is a versatile athlete, he was considered a dual threat, mobile QB. Jones played GT's QB Reggie Ball on the Scout team with good reviews. He's probably the Navy Scout Team QB this week. Not a racial choice a practical one. Frazer, I believe, is considered less a threat to run than Quinn is. Pure dropback QB.

Jones was his team's starting QB until he hurt his shoulder last year. In, I believe a playoff game, his coach played him WR and he did quite well. So he has a track record, however meager it may be, of playing at that position. At 6-3, 200 pounds he has decent size to be a receiver, he has hands, and probably enough foot speed to run with most ND WRs. He's not a blazer like Zbikowski but has the body and toughness to play Safety although ND has more depth there. WR seems more likely if a position change comes about.

At 6-5 226, Frazer has the body that could grow into a TE although I'm not aware of him having played TE or any other offensive position. His footspeed would preclude WR particularly in light of the expected haul at that position. He doesn't appear to be Safety or LB candidate either, does he?.

Got any football comments to add Stalking Eagle, or are you just limited to color commentary?

Can't believe we're back to talking about DJ as a WR!!! We hashed this over so many times last year it is unbelievably redundant.

DJ himself addressed this issue when he was recruited. He stated that Weis told him he was being recruited as a QB and that's where he wanted to play. I think we ought to give him the chance to fail as QB ( which I do not believe he will do ) until we move him to another position. It is my opinion he will be the ND QB next year. Sharpley has a better future in baseball. If that is not the case either he, or Frazer, will transfer. We will not have 4 QB's on the team.

Agreed, 100%.... I'm assuming Stalking stated that in jest, if he didn't he's a dick like Ralphi was. The practical thing is to switch DJ becuase he can, not becuase the color of his skin. I can't believe it is 2006 and we still think that way. I played CFB with 110 guys, several were minorities by skin, and I thought of all of them as family. If I were DJ and I looked at this board and I would just laugh.

When he was recruited we didn't have Clausen in fold(though still not signed), that changes everything. If he isn't the best player I guarantee CW will not play him, if not then play him at WR ala Matt Jones, Arnez Battle, Carlyle Holiday..
