You're right, ND should be up lol. This is well coached elite athletes against well coached athletes.

It's not more complicated than that. These "big plays" aren't just mistakes... Etitine rushing for a 44 yarder isn't coaching... Powell going for 50 isn't coaching... talent wins the big ones. Sorry for serving truth.

A good team of 3 stars has to be perfect to make it close, while a team of 5 stars can be way off their game and still be right in it. Which means they are always right in it.

I do think if you switched QBs, we win. He’s the best player in college football at the most important position in sports. There’s a reason the teams with the elite players/quarterbacks win it every single year.

Completely disagree. The model is still viable. This ND squad just isn't as good as they were a month ago and I think we've been so caught up in the momentum of the season to really say it.

Having said that, this team also has one of the worst ND WR corps of the past 15 years and Ian Book is not an all-americsn QB.

The reality is that ND never has any margin for error, ever. It is unbeaten or not even a shot at getting in. In 2018 we could afford to laugh because ND had beaten Michigan and had the most FBS win in the country, yet there were people still saying that ND did not deserve to be in the CFP despite being the only unbeaten team in the country, I believe.

Now, we are getting trashed before the CFP is chosen and think we still deserve a shot when we blew our one shot to prove we belong?

ND does not deserve a spot. But they will be in the conversation until the committee puts the Aggies in above us. Or FLA if they pull off the upset. But I would prefer ND not be in the CFP. At best, they get Bama in round 1.

I think the ceiling is an Oklahoma level program at the top of the second tier beneath the Big 3. Good enough to make a playoff run every few years but not enough to hang with the big boys.

That's a lazy response, Sherm. We are all frustrated right now. If you are okay with this performance, which is definitely not a first of its kind, then fine, but I am not. This is what we get with Kelly, the best tier 2 team in the nation.

You do realize that 1) the Etienne and Powell scores were straight up mistakes by ND and 2) both of those guys were low 4 stars?

We ARE capable, that is the point. We know we can compete, but we have to be better prepared and minimize mistakes. We have not been able to do that in too long and it stings.
