A poster on DomerDomain (very hit or miss site and posters) is saying torn ACL and out until September.

A pair of orthopedic surgeons on another site speculated ACL and 8 to 12 months rehab on Saturday night from the game film. They made clear that was speculaton from watching a football game on TV.

It's pretty much out there that it is his ACL. Many people have recovered from ACLs in 6-8 months, so it is not out of the question that he'll be back on the field trying to get it going by May-June.

Either way, the spring game, if Clausen leaves, is going to be U-G-L-Y. And we'd have a hobbled QB (Crist) coming off a major injury (and the mental part that goes with it) being backed up by 2 true freshmen. Ouch.

We need to pray for 2 things:

1) Jimmy comes back (I don't blame him for going after the $$$ and his dreams). [And if JC leaves, you think Tate is going to come back with the possibility of a true freshman throwing the ball to him?]

2) The Crist injury isn't as bad as being speculated.

Or else...ND is f***ed......

Guys,
If this is true, expect Goodman to be moved to QB. He would be a good replacement short term. He knows the offense, big arm and great mobility. Good Luck to Dayne on a healthy and speedy recovery.

Couldn't agree more. Goody would probably start at QB in spring game if Crist's ACL keeps him from playing till next fall and Jimmy is gone.

If Jimmy is back and Crist is out Goody should be #2 on the depth chart

Nate Montana will transfer back in and probably start the spring game.

Next fall (if Jimmy leaves) then

Crist
Rees
Hendrix
Montana

will battle out to determine the depth chart. I'm sure Christ will be back close to 100% by September.

Are Rees and Hendrix going to come to ND early, if not don't worry about them in spring.

The projection is 4-6 months but that is just a projection, you also have to take into account the persons ability to trust their knee after this type of injury. Weis said he isnt worried about spring, he just wants him ready by August.

good point. i've had acl reconstructive knee surgery at the age of 33. i went thru rehab on a regular basis and was able to run after 4 months. it took me another 3 months to get my strength back in the knee. again, i was working out regularly.

the good news, that was six years ago and i'm old in comparison to crist (obviously). with him being in shape and having the resources at his disposal, he'll be ready to go in no time.

lastly, the way he injured it won't really have a psychological affect cuz it wasn't due to being hit by a truck. it was fluke twisting of the knee. i think he'll be fine in that department. if it was a hit like what macgahee took against ohio state, then i'd be worried.

it sucks he'll be out, but i'm confident he'll recover fully in time for next season.

Crist will be having his surgery tomorrow. Wish him all the best and a speedy recovery

On a side note, Charlie asked Tom Brady to call Dayne and talk to him about his injury and so on.

What about Nate Montana? Perhaps a 10th year of eligibility for Evan Sharpley?

a 10th year? hmmm, I dont know, I was suprised when they gave him his 9th year of eligibility...10 might be asking for too much.

Sorry but Montana can't see the field on the JC team he went to go get some expereince on. They gave him a shot and his numbers were worse than Derek Anderson's. Goodman, Tate and whatever Freshman can pick up our system.

Hope that injury is healed up completely by the summer practice sessions, but who knows? They really need Crist to be ready though.

Its funny to say this, but I really wish Evan Sharpley had another year of eligibility. I don't like having 2 true freshmen backing up a starter coming back from a torn ACl.....

with all due respect, Sharpley is a great team guy and asset to the football team, but he simply doesn't have the skills to thrive in Kelly's offense. i trust Kelly's coaching abilities to "develop" our young freshman if there is a Crist injury. also, having rees enrolled in january should help the cause.
