Scientists are not scientists. Some get paid lots of money to push agendas and skew results.

Right?? That's why there isn't a vaccine TODAY. It has to pass clinical trials to get approved for use generally, which takes time.

To your point I heard an interview on The Daily (NYT podcast) where they do expect a large portion of US citizens will be wary of a COVID vaccine. It was not the “anti-Vaxxers” but the concern of an accelerated clinical trial that mostly concerned folks. Then there’s the political angle as folks who tie the tie the vaccine to Trump since he appoints the FDA commissioner, etc.

It is reasonable to want to do one’s due diligence before blindly taking a vaccine that just blew away the previous approval track for vaccines in record time. Some think it could be ready for dispensing by Jan 2021. That’s assuming Phase 3 is successful. Many a drug or vaccine never make it to approval despite moving on to phase 3. Nothing is guaranteed but there is reason for hope.

I think most of us would not rush to get vaccinated until we felt comfortable with the results. If some believe that scientists aren't making an honest and professional effort to find a vaccine, I'm not sure what to say.

I'm not going to pretend I don't have any concerns about the vaccines under development (far from an Anti-Vaxer in general mind you). However the number of people who are affraid of them, yet were/are prepared to defend hydroxychloroquine before any positive clinical data came out saying it's effective is mindblowing.

I think the pivot for them is that HCQ has been in use for a number of years, whereas a new vaccine is still being developed.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with the sentiment of your post. I guess when you demonize the scientists leading this thing you gotta dig in and denounce the vaccines as well.

As soon as I see it I will post a link. That state has no choice but to put something out at this point it was a very well known farm that called them out. But it is Democrat Delaware so who knows.

The Oxford vaccine was studied in monkeys. I know you were concerned w/ lack of animal tests in early phase, but you can go click the reprint I posted from The Lancet and see where their trial is about as standard as it gets.

When you go to the doctor's office for vaccines, do they give you a selection of the companies/prices for them? I know obviously for things like pain meds or stress meds you can get generic vs name brand. But is that also the case for vaccines?

No. Keep in mind that the companies are speaking to their WAC so the end user cost is likely to be higher b/c the local pharmacy or MD clinic will have to add in their costs.

The convenient thing is that vaccines are becoming so streamlined that you can just go to your local CVS or Walgreens and get your seasonal flu shot by giving them your insurance card or paying cash depending on your situation.

I don't get what you're objecting to in my comment. All I said was that these potential vaccines ARE going through clinical trials otherwise they would be in use current; nothing about other kinds of vaccines.

Also, I'm not going to get into an argument about RNA vs. DNA vaccines - I have no expertise or knowledge on the subject and I'm not going to get into a debate if I don't understand the science behind both.

Vaccine related but not to this. Let's assume the vaccine is as effective as regular vaccines. Since COVID-19 is a coronavirus will the vaccine also provide us some immunity against some coronavirus colds? I believe I read that for the common cold, the two most common viruses are coronaviruses and rhinoviruses.

My wife did a middle school science project on the common cold 30 years ago with extensive discussion of coronaviruses as one of the primary culprits. Haven't we heard most of our lives "there is no cure for the common cold" but now we will have one in 10 months time?

A cure and a vaccine are two different things. A cure implies an effective treatment for getting rid of the virus and its effects in those already infected. A vaccine prevents infection in the first place by stimulating an immune response in those not yet infected so that if and when they ever encounter the virus, their immune system will kill it before it causes infection.

My family and I are hard-core GOP for four generations.
Never even considered voting Dem - think they are incapable of leading this country.

But, in terms of handling this pandemic and its consequences -

Cuomo screwed up and is responsible for hundreds of unnecessary deaths.
Newsom screwed up California and is responsible.
DeSantis screwed up Florida.
Abbott screwed up Texas.

Local governments screwed up.
Federal agencies screwed up.

The FDA screwed up by approving dozens of types of tests, all known to be unreliable.
The CDC screwed up rejecting the German test and never coming up with their own more reliable test.
The Administration screwed up by never getting their resources organized with disorganization between Fauci, Navarro (DPA), Kushner (in the shadows) and many others.

And yes, admit it, our own GOP President screwed up, by a lack of real leadership and assumption of responsibility.

Here is the truth we do not want to face:

It´s not the Dems. It´s not the GOP. It´s not the President or the Congress.
WE (Dems, Repubs, everyone) have screwed up.

Agreeable? If I were to sit here and write the things she has gone through and claim i completely understood... I would only be telling you things i'm not sure i completely understand yet.

I'm just curious why you think you understand the facts that are yet to be told and/or understood.
She had a book out about her ordeal at least a year before the "pandemic" started.
