Just watched Cuomo on CNN about 30min ago. I don't like his politics, but I do love how he's bridging the aisle. Was highly complimentary of Trump and his partnership working together, and said clearly to one of Blitzer's questions that it's not a time for personal opinions and politics. The gov of IL and De Blasio are whole other cases lol... If Cuomo and Trump can get along for the betterment of America, anything is possible. Need more folks to STFU, work together, and stop the stupid shit.

Trying to find fair balance in the media has become a fruitless venture. Any good media outlets other than Reuters that folks on here think is as close to unbiased as possible? No media outlet is perfect & I realize most folks don’t delineate between editorial dept & news dept but there’s gotta to be better options.

What about Axios?

This is why people shouldn't be as offended as they are about Trump calling it the "Chinese virus." China is out here spreading unchecked propaganda that the United States is responsible for the virus.

Yup. Fuck China. I'm glad they are doing this though. It's making it clear to the world just how dishonest they are. And the "started in the US in September" things is simply void of logic given what we know about the spread factors. It's not even a good conspiracy narrative lol. I'm sure they have more talented liars.... Anyway, we know they lie, steal, and have concentration camps for "re-education"... Anyone that buys what they are selling is beyond dumb.

And F some of the talking heads at MSNBC and CNN that are carrying China's water through all of this.

I read more Reuters than anything else, but even they are drifting a bit left. Really depends on the writer to be honest. You will rarely see a front page poo poo of a liberal these days. Case in point, recently with all the stock sell offs by politicians, they were all over the repubs, but when it was reported that Feinstein also sold a bunch, the entire story disappeared from the front page.

Journalism is completely dead when it comes to MSM.

So it looks like the French are recommending mainstreaming the cocktail that Trump mentioned (and was slammed for by MSNBC, CNN, WAPO, and others).

You can hit the language button at the top right for the English version.

haha one of the MSNBC broads shared a tweet from "Dr." Eugene Gu ripping Donald for how that drug cocktail was not good.

Dude got canned from a residency program at Vandy and doesn't even have a license to practice medicine

Yup. You would think some of the network leadership would tell these guys to tone it down a bit. I know you can't fix stupid for some of these reporters, but at least try to give off the impression that the network/brand is attempting to be more partnering and focused on unity. Even the Obama appointed WH doc told some of these dimwits they need to tone it down.

In terms of the cocktail though. Every single thing I've read on it is positive. I hope we don't slow play it due to typical red tape BS if it's truly a help. Just knowing there's a treatment would calm a lot of the anxieties even if it's just half as successful as the limited trials say.

Yeah, that quack is a whack job. Not very friendly to his lady friends either. Needs to be banned from Twitter if anyone does.

They're a bit different from typical outlets. Really just a different model altogether. Not sure what to think of them just yet. And honestly I don't know if they know what they'll end up being. They started wanting to be FB and Twitter news lol... They're also short form in areas, and then vid/deep in others. As far as their politics, definitely a left lean. NBC owns a piece of them, and they appear on both NBC and MSNBC. They're not near as bad as MSNBC is though, at least not in my opinion. I think they are at least attempting to keep some semblance of fairness, even if everyone knows where their money came from.

Dems flopped bad tonight.

Not a good time to get vindictive with Cocaine Mitch. Last time they pissed him off he gave us Neil and Keg City.

After all that bipartisan momentum, Pelosi struts into the picture, becomes speaker of the Senate and yanks the rug out... SMH.... Now doing their own bill.... Thought things we're going to be different. Back to the same shit.

Yep...same old shit is right and still a zero chance they win in November.

Another 5-10% loss on the DOW.

I was an idiot and started to have a warm and fuzzy that folks were putting aside politics. Can't believe I fell for that.... Cuomo is at least a bright spot still. Hate his politics, but he's pressing pause and extending the hand. That I applaud and respect. IMO, he'd beat the hell out of both Biden and Bernie if he was in the race. Biden's fund raising and messaging on this situation is straight up embarrassing.

Trump has botched this thing awfully. That's a fact and you'll have thousands of docs willing to be in campaign commercials. If the dems are fighting for more oversight on bailing industries out that's not a hard hill to fight on. Mitch will have to bend now that he's lost 5 members of his caucus to quarantine.

Additionally redstate.co. used to be decent. Shortly after trump became pres they got new management who banned everyone who wasn't full board Trump/MAGA. The IQ of that place took a hit and it's essentially Pravda now.

Nope. He gets to say "I negotiated a bipartisan bill that the president would sign." What does Pelosi have? Next to nothing. Last night Chuck Schumer was hyping up this bill him and Mitch were working on. Talking about how great it was and how he was happy about it.

Mitch McConnell breaks people for a living. Last time Pelosi crossed him (impeachment) he made her look like the dumb old wine-o that everyone knows she is. Last time Dem senators crossed him, he shoved Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanagh down their throats. He's the kinda guy you generally don't want to mess with because while Bismarck may have created Realpolitik, Mitch perfected it.

Mitch looks like a spineless enabler on impeachment for one... Pelosi put the 1st bill together in no time flat and repubs wouldn't vote for it until their boss gave them the thumbs up tweet. Playing hard ball for a day won't jeopardize the economy. Even with the best bill in the world the dow will continue to hemmorhage in the coming weeks. Again optics on this aren't great if it turns out repubs won't bend on executive oversight.

Geesh. The framework was fine and had bipartisan support (that is per dems and repubs alike), until in-walks-Pelosi. And any dem taking a hard stance on corporate bailouts of any kind needs to flash the fuck back to Obama's auto bailout and stimulus. He even supported the bank bailout.

As far as docs go, there's plenty that have said had he not shut down travel when he did (which the dems criticized), we'd be far worse. And the only blunder thus far has been delay of testing, and there's very specific reasons for those delays (which I've listed earlier) and have zero to do with Trump.

Anyway, this is getting political, so needs to be taken to the other side of the site. See you there if you'd like to debate with actual fact instead of anecdotal weak ass shit like the above.

This is the COVID page and our inept response is cause for this to be political. There's a reason the prediction markets went from heavy trump victory likelihood to favoring dems. You didn't have an issue with the last page or 2. But who knows, maybe like a miracle it'll go away.

This is the non-political side. Mods asked to keep the politics out, and the only mentions by me until tonight were praising dems like Cuomo and Omar for bridging the aisle, and the others for what looked to be a bipartisan bill. If you want to swing at Trump, come on over to the political side, and I'm happy to go down the rabbit hole. Gauging by your response, you're anecdotal and it won't take long to make you look silly. Bring your facts, stay on topic, and let's discuss comparatively the US vs the rest of world responses and impacts.

‘It will not be pretty’: State preparing to make life-or-death decisions if coronavirus overwhelms health care system (Seattle Times)

Washington state and hospital officials have been meeting to consider what once was almost unthinkable — how to decide who lives and dies if, as feared, the coronavirus pandemic overwhelms the state’s health care system.

“We don’t want to do it. We don’t think we should have to do it,” said Cassie Sauer, chief executive of the Washington State Hospital Association, which along with state and local health officials has been involved in refining what Sauer called a “crisis standard of care” — essentially guidelines to health care officials on who should receive treatment and who should be left to die.

“If we have to do this, then we want to do it in a fair and rational and thoughtful way,” Sauer said.

Dr. Vicki Sakata, the senior medical adviser to the Northwest Health Care Response Network, said a group of medical officials and other experts have been discussing how the state would deal with a crisis that overwhelmed the medical system. She prefers to add the word “planning” to the idea of “crisis standard of care” because, in her mind, the goal is to avoid a crisis in the first place.

That said, the state is prepared to act if it has to and has developed guidelines that will be implemented across the system, from the bedside doctor to hospital systems.

“We will do it as a state under an ethical framework that is part of the state plan,” she said. “It will be overseen by an objective team who has been thoroughly briefed on the protocols and processes, and will be undertaken in a transparent and equitable manner.

"But, make no mistake, it will not be pretty,” said Sakata, who is a practicing emergency medicine physician. “That’s why we are taking the steps we are taking now, the social distancing, the hand washing, all of that, so sometime down the road nobody is left having to decide who gets resources, and who doesn’t.”

Sakata said her network, which comprises 15 Western Washington counties, has been working on crisis standard-of-care planning since 2012, and wanted to assure the public all efforts and resources are being aimed at managing the COVID-19 outbreak so the health care system doesn’t collapse under the strain of too many patients at once.
