Court ruling clears way for depositions of Reggie Bush, Pete Carroll | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

A state appellate court affirmed Monday that an ongoing lawsuit against Reggie Bush (pictured above) does not have to go to confidential arbitration, opening the way for attorneys to question Bush and USC Coach Pete Carroll about whether the running back received improper benefits while playing for the Trojans.
... "This will play out in open court for the public to see," Watkins said.

If they don't get the death penalty at some point, then there is no justice in the NCAA at all.

The NCAA will be waiting...

to play see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.

They will never let anything happen to their cashcow.

agree, or they give them something totally minor and insignificant just to play the game

the ncaa probably just opened up a new foreign car dealership so the usc football team can use them to get to practice

We have reached a ruling on the Reggie Bush matter. U$C will be forced to give up TWENTY DOLLARS! And 1/739256th of a scholarship for the next three days.

As someone who has many friends who have graduated from USC and their law school, they continually tell me that their alumni will do everything to make sure that a ruling never sees the light of day. They have some big hitters swinging for them, but I can only hope that justice comes sooner rather than later.

It does seem though that the NCAA focused so much on McKnight as an almost-apologetic investigation for their muched-up Bush attempts

This is an outrage. USC should be banned for ten years from bowl games, but must play us, in South Bend, in late November, for the next ten years.

Wishful thinking.....the NCAA is not about to cut off its nose to spite its face. USC is currently the only school that can push the envelope for honesty, integrity and resolve and get away with it....every time, whether its their basketball or football program. Money talks and they have plenty.

As much as I hate USCheat, and I do, I think any significant penalty on them would end up hurting the Irish too. With Michigan bottoming out as a program, the USC game needs to be a big one for the Irish schedule to be worth a damn most years. Granted, I wouldn't mind if Pete stopped cheating so it could be played on an even level, but I really do think the Irish need USC to be good. I also think the Irish need to beat USC.

That's an incredible sentence.

Strange that when ND beat Southern Cal 11 times in a row, Irish fans weren't calling for the Trojans to be good.

When Southern Cal is "good", they aren't.

Reggie Bush ordered to give deposition next week - USC : The Orange County Register

April 13th, 2010· posted by SCOTT M. REID, OCREGISTER.COM

Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush has been ordered to give a deposition next week as part of sports marketer lawsuit against the former Trojan running back.
San Diego County Superior Court Judge Steven R. Denton ordered Bush to give a deposition April 23 in the latest step in a scandal that has left the Trojan program facing NCAA sanctions in part because of charges that Bush and his family during his playing career at USC received nearly $300,000 in cash and gifts in violation of NCAA rules from sports marketer Lloyd Lake.
Lake is suing Bush in San Diego Superior Court to recover the financial support he provided Bush.
“Now the truth will finally come out,” said Brian Watkins, an attorney for Lake.
A USC spokesman declined comment.
Denton on Tuesday also cleared the way for Michael Michaels to give a deposition in the suit on April 21. Attorneys for Bush had tried to block the Michaels’ deposition claiming it would violate a confidentiality agreement between Bush and Michaels as part of an out-of-court settlement.
Michaels also alleged that he provided Bush and his family with cash and gifts and reached a settlement with Bush for reportedly between $200,000 and $300,000.
More to come.
