Just never got too much into pro hockey...about the only time was when Gretzky was a youngster...man he could play!

College hockey is way better...A lot less of the gooning and way more of the game's true speed and precision...the games mean so much more here since 2/3 of the pros get to the playoffs

It's doesn't feel like hockey season right now that's for sure... but the COMPLETE lack of hcokey on T.V. in so cal doesn't help matters... it's getting worse every year now.

Feels like hockey to me....we've had some snow, it's been cold and miserable...and I get plenty of hockey on satellite.

I completely forgot about last night's game...my company laptop took a shit and I was busy trying to rescue "important data" from the hard drive and cover my tracks before sending it into out IT dept. Good news though, VS had the game so it's being reaired tonight at 5PM.

BTW - The NHL Network on DirecTV kicks so much ass, it's not funny. Who needs ESPN when you have the NHL network. In about 10 mins of watching it last night after realizing I missed the game, I saw about 5 minutes of hilights (not just goals but key plays), followed by some of John Stevens' media interviews after the game. Oh, and some post-game interviews with Lupul & Umberger. ESPN wants nothing to do with hockey.....GREAT! GFY, dipshits...you can have Berman broadcast his tired-ass "back back back" schtick for 24hrs for all I care.

DirecTV is the best thing for me with hockey. You can watch college hockey and pro hockey. The NHL network is awesome, plus I have the center ice package so I can see all the games. But sadly, this doesnt include my chicago blackhawks. They are showing 11 home games this season though, so it's an improvement. btw the Hawks are 4-0 against the wings this year. It's all about Kane and Toews.

I went to my first NHL game over the holidays. It was in Chicago and it was a pretty cool experience.... my favorite part was the National anthem.... unfortunately the crowd was not as loud for the rest of the game.

Might not be the most tactful to bring this up but yesterday around 5ish pacific time I'm playing NHL 08 as the Pens in the first round of the playoffs against Florida and Zed. keeps blocking my shots from the point... So I hit him in open ice on purpose, getting the Interference pentalty, but knocking him out of the game... I was cheering watching the virtual version of him getting injured around the same time that happened... couldn't believe it when I saw that this morning

But seriously....damn but we're in a slump. We're on the playoff bubble now, unbelievable. Was just a short time ago that we were #2 in the conference. WTF!

Personally, I think Gagne is done. He'll be in and out of lineups for the rest of his career. Once you get a bad concussion, things only get worse. Was good to get Lupul back for a couple of games; now he's out with Sid the Whiner disease. That Giroux kid looked pretty decent vs Ottawa though he's gotta learn to leave those minor league moves in the locker room; they just don't work in the NHL. I think Homer is gonna be busy before the trade deadline. This week and next oughta be real interesting.

Lupul was so under rated with the Ducks last year, he was a pleasure to watch... LOVED him and Getzlaf... andI wouldn't worry about the playoffs... hell the Pens aren't in anything yet either, I worry every game they'll fall out as tight as the East is right now...anyway.....

I just belatedly noticed the hockey thread/forumn. There isn't much hockey at DD. IrishRick, from Maine is teaching me about the sport and we seem to be only ones over there remotly Hocky oriented.

ColonialHead did have a hocky blog but I think dropped it to help SubwayDomer.
