No they didn’t.

Fortuna: “I had heard there was talk of moving Al Washington to linebackers coach and then hiring a DL coach”

Sampson: “Hmm I had not heard that”

They then told a Coach O joke in 0% seriousness.

You can’t even shit post well.
Unironically Coach O wood be great for our DL.

Wonder who Ohio St pivots to now? Must mean Day will be going back to the primary play caller.

I think Day would be better served being the primary play caller. Hartline isn't a play caller and I think this whole year was intended to do exactly what it did and got him the promotion he needed to become a head coach

To swing back around to this. Codlin is still listed on the ND roster site and there hasn't been any news, but he's been RT'ing UNT coaching and staff appointment announcements.

Some folks saying Washington will move to LB coach as many have speculated and sounds like someone in the NFL ranks will take on DL. Someone mentioned. Charlie Partridge from the Colts who has some history with Ash.
That would be a really good hire. I like Washington but Partridge would be an upgrade at DL. IMO he’d be a Rudolph caliber DL coach.

Partridge did a fantastic job at Pitt. I would be excited about that. Washington to LB I’m not sure about though. I recall OSU fans being ecstatic that he was leaving as their LB coach to come here. Not sure how fair their criticism was though.

I wouldn't devalue the importance of a good position coach over the course of a season. Bullough was a tremendous asset. Bowen got a lot better IMO thru his help

Being a bit facetious. Of course position coaches matter, and, frankly, a good coach could be the difference between Bowen or Sneed sticking with us vs. going to the draft.
But assuming they stick, our LB corps is absolutely loaded with experienced talent. Of all the spots to worry about, LB coach ain't it.

2 of the 3 years under Washington as LBs Coach, Coombs was the DC. And every OSU fan knows Coombs was way out of his league there. Washington just go the trickle down blame everyone did. People were also calling for LJ to retire.

In 2021, OSU had 5 guys defenders drafted, top 2 were linebackers. In 2022, only one OSU defender was drafted.

I really like Washington a lot as Defensive Run Game Coordinator. Our run fits out last year were outstanding. I’d love to keep him on staff.

It is worth wondering if he can coach technique and details to high level LBs.
