Eventually teams will strike out on their top 3 or 4 guys and will start to go down the list. I think Hartline could leave for the right job, but I don't think he'll take just any job to get a HC spot. With there being so many Job openings, does anyone think someone goes after someone like Sheron Moore, Cristobal, Dabo, I think Hartline is a viable candidate. Does Knowles want to be a head coach? Matt Patricia or is he pulling a Chip Kelly?
There's enough openings and potential openings that all of those guys could get jobs and still be leftovers for Hartline at this point.I feel like there are a lot of guys who should be getting their first head coaching job before Brian Hartline does. I simply don't get it with this guy, and I have yet to be convinced by anyone that there is really anything I'm missing.
Tommy Rees and Tony Alford seem to have proven more than Hartline has. Rees has been around just as long, Alford a lot longer.
You also have dudes at the G5 and I-AA level that have been head coaches who have undoubtedly earned a shot as well.
I'm sure Hartline is a nice enough fella and all, but I am very curious to see where he goes and how he does if it ever happens because too many people think highly of this guy because he can recruit WR to Ohio State.
Don’t sell yourself short Judge, you’re a tremendous slouch.Well aren’t I a dumb fuck
I count 12 currently open. Kent State the one being filled to this point. There's enough openings and potential openings that all of those guys could get jobs and still be leftovers for Hartline at this point.
I agree about Hartline. sure he's recruited an abundance of great receivers to Ohio State but at what point is it just a combo of him being Able to recruit AND Ohio State being a great landing spot regardless of Hartline.I feel like there are a lot of guys who should be getting their first head coaching job before Brian Hartline does. It would seem that he would get some interest with the total chaos that will surround this offseason's coaching searches. Just a matter if he wants to be the top dog some place. To be clear, I'm not touting Hartline as a great coaching candidate, I'm not sure if he would be any good or not and have no vested interest in him coaching anywhere. He's just a name tossed out there all the time so I mentioned him earlier.
I understand the suspicion regarding his HC candidacy but it seems unfair to discredit what he’s done as a WR coach. Dude seems to be the best position coach in the country regarding accumulating talent and developing it. We know first hand that high ranked WRs aren’t a sure thing. Seems like they hit on a high percentage of them.I agree about Hartline. sure he's recruited an abundance of great receivers to Ohio State but at what point is it just a combo of him being Able to recruit AND Ohio State being a great landing spot regardless of Hartline.
This. Plus I’m pretty sure the WR position took off after he took over. If he was ND’s WR coach we’d be shitting ourselves if he was leaving every offseasonI understand the suspicion regarding his HC candidacy but it seems unfair to discredit what he’s done as a WR coach. As reported by Borba, on his Zach Gelb show on Audacy, Gelb reported that Meyer had “strong interest” in the Penn State job opening.
“I’m not going to crush Urban Meyer for lying when he says ‘Hey, I don’t have any interest in coaching again,’” Gelb said. “But I’ve talked to two sources and two sources told me that Urban Meyer had a great interest level in becoming the next head football coach at Penn State.”
According to Gelb, the conversations between Meyer and Penn State hit a major snag, though.
“The reasons why those talks did break down is when they got to the topic of NIL,” Gelb explained. “Which Urban Meyer has never been a head coach during the NIL era. His plan and his answers in terms of navigating those Name Image, and Likeness waters were not viewed as satisfactory enough.”
In other words, he can’t bully players anymore.
I agree. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if PSU reached out and Urban turned them down and this is spin to make themselves look better. "We turned the mighty Urban Meyer, who really wanted this job for real, but we have standards here." Highly doubt it.This is such a crock of shit.
“AD deemed his answers unsatisfactory”
Answers come from questions asked during an interview.
Urban Meyer did not interview with Penn State, or it would be widely reported everywhere.
Also, despite being a general POS, Urban Meyer is not stupid. He’s not giving unsolicited opinions that can be judged by others unless there is a job and money attached, which there wasn’t , because there was no interview.

If you've got connections, you can ask Urban anything you want without setting up anything formal. This is such a crock of shit.

LSU is a better job than Auburn or VT imo. Sure the expectations are wild, but there is a demonstrable path to wild success there over the past 25-30 years.
However, the recent developments where LSU appears to be in total disarray does make it slightly less appealing, but I would still take that job over Auburn. Wouldn't touch Auburn with a 10 foot pole.
Chalk this up to us being insecure idiots carrying decades of disappointment baggage that don't grasp how the profession works.This. Plus I’m pretty sure the WR position took off after he took over. If he was ND’s WR coach we’d be shitting ourselves if he was leaving every offseason
Hughrone WillingfreezeHeard a report on the radio that the biggest reason Freeze was let go was because he spent way too much time on the golf course. A booster reported that the Friday before a game, he was at a golf course with no clubs. He was there just to watch others play. lol

Hugh Freeze’s passion for golf helped get him fired at Auburn
During his three seasons at Auburn, it’s been no secret that Freeze loves to golf, but it appeared that some people began to take issue with how much he prioritized golf.nypost.com
Yeah, I think the new era isn't built for a guy like Meyer. In other words, he can’t bully players anymore.
Regardless of the profession, I have never seen this end well.IMO, Auburn should go w/ Sumrall. Their AD, Cohen; has made it clear that he & he alone will make the choice. I’m sure no one buys that b/c their boosters have always been dysfunctional but it makes the most sense.
I can’t imagine LSU attracting a good candidate until they name an AD. Which HC would accept the position w/o knowing who his boss is going to be?
Thought I read that they should have a new one this week, maybe even todayRegardless of the profession, I have never seen this end well.
LSU also doesn't have a university president, correct? At least not a permanent one.
Wouldn't touch it. Too much dysfunction happening there.
