Only way I could see Freeman going to UF, is he wanted access to every recruit in the country especially in FL and wants to be in the SEC. He doesn't seem enamored with the SEC, and does just fine with the kids he has access to. I'm not too worried, but UF is a big time job...with tons of reasons to weigh your options.

Florida has been largely a non-factor for 15+ years. ND is a much better job in every regard.

Regarding Freeman, I imagine, unless things go south, he would pass on Ohio State and/or the NFL for ND, and there's no one else I fear. What I do fear is, if I'm wrong and Freeman ever leaves for another program under favorable conditions, many of our best players and recruits would follow him.

Everyone should be used to these kinds of articles by now. Freeman's name is going to be in them because ND fans are going to click on them and start discussing. They drive clicks and engagement. What will be will be, but I really have a hard time seeing Freeman leave ND for anything outside of Ohio State or the NFL.

Never say never but Freeman is not leaving right now.

The football program is at its highest since the last natty. He has the AD and president working with him in ways we don’t even now about. The university loves him, the current players love him, 90% of the fans love him, the wives that don’t like football love him. The only time you truly hear negative things about him is from other schools that can’t have him. ND has been every where for a long time. It seemed durning the end of the Kelly era that ND was less talked about. Freeman is talked about and respected more than Kelly could dream about.

Freeman is it and that’s all there is to it. The AD and President will do everything to they can to make sure he has the resources available to keep moving forward. When you respect ND the way Freeman does, it sends a message and that message is understood by the powers to be.

I had the same question. I think it may have been a combo of both.
Ok, glad I'm not the only one potentially making that up.

I get that a lot of PSU fans would probably be disappointed if they didn’t land a “big fish” like Freeman or Cignetti. It would feel like proof that PSU isn’t really on a tier above everyone else like they think. But honestly, they could do a lot worse than Brady. The only real concern I’d have is recruiting. Freeman’s still going to come into Pennsylvania and eat his lunch unless Brady’s willing to match at least 80% of Freeman’s effort.

Apparently MF being pursued by PSU per Cowterds show today. Anyone hear anything that would corroborate this?

Brady must have made quite an impression as a two year GA under Franklin.

The good news for Joe Brady is that he doesn't have to deal with recruiting as much in this new era as he did in 2019 with LSU.

This one seems like a stretch to me.

There's a Twitter post (too lazy to look it up) saying that PSU's AD will "call everyone," and that Freeman is first on his list.

He's not going anywhere else in CFB, guys - and that includes OSU. The only way we lose Freeman is if he decides he wants to try his hand at the NFL level.

ND is a better job than PSU and UF, and with the administration's full backing of MF - monetarily and everything that comes with it - there are only 2-3 jobs arguably better than ND in the entire country.

What’s funny is a bunch of this I feel like is based on BK leaving, and let’s be honest, if ND wanted to really keep BK he’d still be at ND

Right. I'm not going to speak in absolutes because anything can really happen, but I would not expect Coach Free to leave ND for Penn State. It would seem that Ohio State or the NFL would be the primary possibilities, but who knows. If anyone had told me five years ago BK would be at LSU, I would have laughed. I think most of us would have.

I don't expect him to either. But if he does, you call Cignetti to lead the Irish going forward.

Gotta disagree on Cig and the Irish. I love what he’s done but he’s done much of it through the portal. That’s not happening at ND. Plus, the portal is great for filling out a roster but you miss a year and you end up like Fla St. a couple seasons ago.

Not only that, but BK never came close to winning over the administration the way MF has. Which supports your point, but people acting like ND in 2022 is even remotely comparable to ND 2025 are just clueless.

Not sure I could take Freeman going to Penn State. I’d have to start watching something else as that would break me as a fan. Not concerned in the least that it would happen.

Why would PSU want Freeman? 0-3 vs OSU

All of those Franklin clown memes I posted the last week on another board would certainly haunt me.
