I really like Elko. I also think he caught ND at a very tough time and was able to adjust to our limited WR room when we played them. If I remember correctly we missed out on some points early before Duke loaded up and took away the run. I’ll take Elko 10/10 outscheming GP. That being said game 1 we should be healthy and I think it’s a great opportunity to beat a team from the SEC. Our defense should match up well with anyone next year if the right guys stick around.

I share some of your frustrations. I didn't initially, but I'm starting to question him more so as time goes on. That said, you already made up your mind before he coached his first game. So pardon me for thinking your opinions are biased.

I publicly voted that they’d win 11 games this season. Privately, I lost a decent amount of money that they didn’t win 10+ in the regular season. I don’t know where you’ve been but I was one of the more bullish posters on this team pre-season. I would not be doing either if I didn’t like or expect Freeman to do well.

When Ludwig fell through there was a window to continue a real search. ND still swings a big stick. It the time when hired Porker it felt like freeman saying you fucked me well fine fuck you. I know that isn’t the case but he took a risk on a friend and it blew up. If it doubles down that will be his legacy

It’s freaking November lol. Who knows what kind of teams A&M or Notre Dame will be fielding in 10 months
This… I’ll assess after spring how good I think we’ll be and if I like us vs A&M

what we do at QB and OC, who stays on D, what we get from portal… so much tbd

Wilson wasn't that far outside of the box. He coached at Miami for most of the 90's before following Randy Walker to NW.

Before that Terry Hoeppner, Bill Mallory & John Pont all started at Miami and did a stint in Bloomington.
Yep, that’s why I said it would be so Indiana. They keep hiring MAC coaches, but Wilson was at Oklahoma when IU grabbed him. Looking to hire from a top tier program hasn’t been their method.

I’m right with ya, freeman stating he was going portal for qb right after usc loss I though was brilliant, his getting Hartman put us in a spot to beat anyone.

Moronic game day coaching, prep for road games, and an OC without a clue and not learning until week 11 did us in

Freeman has a lot of work to do in the next few months to get mills and cross back, at least one lb, fisher and figure out OC and QB

I was so bullish on this season, thought the osu blunder would re focus team and make everyone so focused and hungry. Then I attended the game at Duke where the team was so flat coming off a loss. I knew freeman was in over his head, confirmed at Louisville following week

You literally just said you didn't like the hire at the time. It has nothing to do with how many wins you thought they would have or how much money you personally lost. Talk about a straw man argument lol

I didn’t like the Parker hire. Who did? It was a terrible hire and I still had enough faith in Freeman and this team.

There really wasn't much of a window. Parker was selected Feb 18, no? Spring practice began March 23. Time was not on Freeman's side. Plus they had to do something if they wanted to keep Hartman.

A month, a million plus dollars, and the ND monogram I
couldn’t have pulled something significantly better than an Appalachian cast off with a big smile and heridatary spelling problems? I choose to not believe that.

I went from not liking freeman hire to, holy crap freeman set this up,we may actually have a real shot at winning it all this year, to, yep, my initial instincts were correct and we are in trouble if major changes aren’t made

I hear you, I think it became a bird in hand situation. What happens if they continue interviewing and still can't find anyone after another week or two? Can't imagine Freeman felt all that confident the admin would have backed him the next time around, especially ND holding zero leverage when it came to negotiation time due to the timing.

I don’t like that job for him. He needs to go somewhere that profiles easier for recruiting.
IU needs some real out of the box thinking on recruiting. They need to dominate the tier two recruits in indy, cincy, and Louisville and just do not at all

You can get some decent recruits to IU if you try. Enough to get 7-8-9 wins a year if you have a good staff. The problem is most of their HC’s and staff didn’t really know how to go after kids. Penix came from IU and Allen let him get away .

Notre Dame is not like Alabama. I want them to be like Alabama. They should be like Alabama. Greatness.

Alabama is a locomotive. We are the little engine that could in big dog college football.

If Notre Dame wants to embrace their heritage and be great like Alabama then that's great. But I suspect they don't, so they shouldn't schedule like it.
