The only way it's talked about is if Clausen were playing for anyone BUT Notre Dame............ I seriously believe that... if this were Dirty Sanchez graduating early last year it'd be a slobberfest

Skip Bayless is such a moron. Says Clausen doesnt have what it takes for the NFL.

He (Skip) doesnt have what it takes to be a reporter/commentator. All ESPN commentators are ND haters. They're opinions are irrelevant.

Something tells me JC and GT get drafted to the team that Charlie is going to be taking over for....just a thought.

He always strikes me as the type of person that whatever the main stream belief is, he will say the opposite just to argue.

But where? St. Louis? Buffalo? I hope Jimmy falls to the 32nd pick in the draft with Minnesota Vikings :)

This is why he's on ESPN. This is also the reason they put Lou and Mark May on the same program. It's how TV works these days I guess

Florida would build a library that faces the endzone just to put a "touchdon timmy" mural on it...

I wonder how many player Charlie has in fact told to go pro or to transfer to a system that will "better utilize their talent".

In my opinion, Jimmy isn't ready for the NFL and needs to be holding a clipboard for at least 1 season, 2 would be better. Seattle is a great spot for him, anywhere in the Top 10 currently like Washington or St.Louis would be throwing him into the fire too early.

Golden is ready for the league. Hes an amazing WR and could possibly be used as a RB also. Hes like a Reggie Bush in terms of his impact on the game, whether he touches the ball or not.

Herbstreit isn't. He seems very fair and balanced when it comes to ND. I like him.

but as for Clausen...this is just sad. He is not ready for the Pros yet. Another Year in NCAA would do wonders for him and his career. If he goes to a team like..the Bucs or some team that really needs a QB NOW and he starts...his career will be ruined. The only way he'll be any good is if he sits the bench behind a good QB and waits to get some experience.

Herby is fair & balanced with everyone, except for Michigan.

I have similar feelings, they're going to use the underclassmen label against him and they're going to question his size also.

He needs to be behind a QB for at least 1 full year, and maybe 2 years. Work on his mechanics, footwork, his deep ball, etc. Learn the system, and then be groomed for the job similar to Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay, actually thats who Clausen makes me think of as a QB.

Seattle or Minnesota or Indianapolis would be great fits.

He's going to be thrown into the fire in places like Cleveland, Washington, St.Louis, Buffalo, San Fran, and Carolina.

Herbie is the same "fair and balanced" guy who called Notre Dame football irrelevant on CGD live two weeks ago. He is a bright guy, but when it comes to cfb he is an OSU guy through and through. Kirk Fowler even called him out when he made that comment.

As for JC, with the collective bargaining agreement coming, there is no way he is gonna pass up the kind of guaranteed money he is gonna get to play another year of college ball and pull a sam bradford.

He was thrown into the fire at Notre Dame and struggled immensely. Do you remember his comical freshman season? He was young and struggled to adjust.

His sophmore season, he improved but tossed way too many picks.

Everything came together this past season, but there is still work to do on him as a QB.

Sadly, I'm going to say Jimmy will be a bust. He should of had better stats the entire year, especially with his wide receivers. He got to play some pretty poor passing defenses this year. Hope I'm wrong. He needs one more year.

If there's one thing Charlie won't be doing, its throwing the University under the bus. He'll be honest with his players just like he would have been if he still was coach. I don't know if you were implying otherwise or not, but Golden's on the record saying that one of the things he appreciates the most about Weis is how he's so honest with Tate that Golden feels like Charlie Jr.

As for Jimmy, he would be better off holding a clipboard for a year or two regardless of whether or not he comes back, almost all young QBs are. On the other hand it would be almost impossible for him to come back and increase his stock and he'd be risking losing out on a huge payday with the new rule changes. It sucks to see Jimmy go, but that was understood to be likely no matter what and certain with the firing of Charlie.

As is with every College QB entering the NFL but I think the improvement over the past 2 years & the incredible difference form this year & his freshman proves he has what it takes to work through it & continue to improve.

BQ has looked like he's improving, but my point was that up to this point in his career he is looking more bust then breakout.

BAL L 16-0 13/31 99 yards 41.9% 0 TD 2 INT Rating 23.5
@DET L 38-37 21/33 304 yards 63.6% 4 TD 0 INT Rating 133.1
@CIN L 16-7 15/34 100 yards 44.1% 0 TD 0 INT Rating 51.3
SD L 30-23 25/45 271 yards 55.6% 3 TD 0 INT Rating 95.7

I wouldn't exactly call these earthshattering, especially his completion %. Btw, you don't have to sell me on BQ, I have a Cleveland Browns #10 jersey and I hate all things Cleveland.

im not trying to sell you, but the guy is just now getting his chance to play. so save the bust talk for now.

Thanks for all you did while you were here Jimmy, you'll be missed.

P.S. Pray you don't get drafted by Cleveland somehow. They're so terrible, everyone will think you suck (when in reality, you don't. See = Brady Quinn).

thrived tremendously? yes but not until 3rd year! and the NCAA is a whole lot different than the NFL. So yes by Year 3 in the NFL he will thrive....depending on the team and who coaches him.

Herby is fair & balanced with everyone, except for Michigan.

All the more reason I like him! :) :D hehee Hate them Wolves.
Totally right on. I think he has more confidences and is a better leader than Aaron.
but yeah..its going to be awful with the team he will get put on. especially with a coach that won't know how to get the most out of him.

Yes like I said fair and balanced. If he only spoke good things about ND he wouldn't fair or balanced. ND these past 3 years have been....well in the BCS perspective irrelevant. So I can't slam the guy for saying one negative thing that is debatably true.

I know you are right. but his Fam has already got tons of money. You would hope he would think more about his future/education/beauty of playing at ND than just consumed with the money. It would also be tragic if he stays, his whole offense of line leaves and he gets injuried. I just hope he does good in the NFL...please gods of football...look down on ND Nation and grant us the blessings of blessing Tate and Clausen...thank you :)

What professional aspects of Clausen's game would have improved running a spread style offense? Whether he is prepared for the NFL or not, doesn't matter. His teacher and mentor is heading back to the NFL and there is absolutely no point in learning how to operate the spread scheme. All you who are typing that he is not ready answer this, what more would he have learned at Notre Dame?

He threw a lot of balls that Tate came down with, but the DBs in the pros won't let him get away with that.

Thanks for everything Jimmy. I watched you in HS and all thru college. I hope to continue to do the same in the NFL. Thanks so much for being apart of the Fighting Irish. Bring on Dayne Crist. We are stacked with talent. One thing weis did do well was recruit.

What do you think his stats should have been? I am just curious. Playing with turf toe most of the season, with key injuries to key players (FB, RB, TE, WR) and a very mediocre running game, I think he put up some pretty sick numbers.

Sad to see you go Jimmy, if you had better defenses and better o lines, your time might have been better. I pray he somehow falls to the 49ers.
