Its a Xavier around campus kind of like you can't see me by Sergio Brown. You've never heard kids say this at Catholic High Schools. Way to paint a picture of a school that you don't know very well. I don't want to play the race card or is it because these are black kids from New York who are trying to better themselves. Tu goes to class every day, I know this, I've had a class with him. Yea our kids are not as smart as Notre Dame's but are everybody's no.

Nobody even attacked how intelligent the basketball players are, but what both teams did is unacceptable. Your own players called themselves gangsters. That's very dumb. I get that you're a Xavier fan because you go there, but please stop this "defense" (if you can call it that) of the Xavier basketball players.

What a lot of the UC players did was dumb.

What a lot of the Xavier players did was dumb.

End of story.

One punch and your career should be over? That's ridiculous.

One punch? I watched the thing live, then over and over on replay.

By my count, he threw three I believe (the last I believe was him), at three different players. Screaming the entire time.

Also, I believe it was 13 for the Bearcats? He kicked the big white kid after the sucker punch. That kid should be gone for the season as well.

Gates should be gone. You get a heat of the moment action and forgiveness. You don't get one, get to move to another player and take another shot, then take one last one for good measure (although the last one was more of a shove).

And kicking a guy while he's down? Defend that.

He also threw the ball at someone at the start of the altercation.

Isn't this assault and battery? I say the police should've been called. Why should athletes be treated any different than other students? Do athletes and sports figures deserve special treatment? Isn't that what happened at Penn State, i.e., the school will handle it internally rather than the police?

You do make an interesting point. Where were the police in this matter? I didn't see them breaking things up. Of course I could just be blind.

And I've never considered what goes on during a sporting event a possible "assault". It did happen during the game though so...I really don't ****ing know. I feel like if you started arresting guys for that stuff then football would be completely illegal by now. lmao

Mick Cronin is such a joke, he has no control over that team. As for Yancy, he has never really blossomed to his potential. He is always overweight and out of shape, rarely hustles on the floor, and some guys I know who go to UC claim he has played multiple games high. He has done more harm than good for UC basketball.

Thank You for some perspective I believe Beau Yea we should not have been part of the fight. I get upset when players at my school are called thugs and when people have the facts of the fight wrong. Nothing was good and I believe Dez and Mark Lyons should be suspended. But when you call the kids that live across the hall from me thugs I will stick up for them.

They called themselves gangstas. They are all thuglets. Kenny Frease is an ogre and I'm so happy he got stomped.

yea kenny frease is an Ogre yea and yea Tu doesn't exactly know how to speak at press confrences and if you listened to the intent he said were ganstas not thugs we do our talking on the court is what he said.

They are all thuglets. Kenny Frease is an ogre and I'm so happy he got stomped. Title 2014 are you from Butler or what its funny that your blaming just X. The one player that started it for Xavier is the opposite of a thug he actually went to a military school gets good grades he was just sticking up for his teammates. Like I said not acceptable on our side but ESPN is right on this one it is mostly UCs fault and they look a lot worse.

For Cincinatti Yancy Gates, Octavius Ellis, and Cheikh Mbodj each are suspended 6 games. Ge'Lawn Guyn gets suspended one game.

This is only for the Cincinatti players not sure about Xavier players yet.

I'm not defending them the two guys should be suspended and I have said that since yesterday. I just don't want them to be called thugs when they are not.

I'm sorry but "gangsta" and "thugs" are one in the same. There is no such things as "gangsta's on the court". Even if in their personal life they are not "gangsta's" or "thugs" they still said it. So they will be called it.

I have no side in the argument just my opinion.

I've played sports my entire life. Scuffles happen. Sucker punching a guy seperating the fight is a thug action.

calling it as I see it

I'm on board with this...

Its one thing to square up, look a guy in the eyes, and knock him out...it is something completely different to blind side him while he's engaged with someone else...

I really don't know all the subtleties of Gansta, Thug, or whatever...I do know a sucker punch when I see one...

If the NCAA were to fail to take action here...that would send a VERY bad message...the kind of message that causes future altercations and also puts a target on this kid's back.

he's also a candidate for having his legs cut out from under him...just sayin, don't put the players in the justice business...its always more harsh and dangerous...NCAA, do your job!

Direct quote from the presser, " We go a bunch of gangsters in the locker room. Not thugs, but tough kids out on the court." Gangster is used to describe toughness. Tu is from the east coast, he's an NYC kid. He's not from midwest suburbia. Wrong choice of words? Yes. But this was taken WAY out of context, and the entire country is ridiculuing this kid because everyone took it for the PC meaning.

And for anyone to compare the kids that go X and categorize them the same as UC kids, you need to seriously reconsider your judgement.

Thank you I'm not defending our kids but we are a lot better than UC and if you listened to the press conference it was not good but what he meant is that we are tough but we don't throw punches.

my pops always told me if u dont want to get hit dont break it up. stuff happens

unfortunately thats probably some sage advice right there...

I will say though, I bet your pops meant you shouldn't get in the middle of two guys that are fighting...and if you get hit its your fault...

Something wrong with someone not even in the "picture" coming out of left field and dropping a haymaker on someone. He knew the guy was vulnerable...thats why he did it...he wasn't trying to exert his will after the trash talkin was over...he didn't commit a hard foul...he didn't takle and restrain someone...he was trying to hurt someone because he's an emotionally unstable moron with some sort of issue...

I get that kids will do dumb things out of emotion...but there is a certain kind of guy that can even throw a sucker punch...thats not emotion, thats a mental deficiency right there...one that should be attended to BEFORE the guy hits the floor again.

oh he was in the "picture" close enough to lay the guy out. if olboy did not want to get hit he should have stayed 20 to 30ft back. not that it was justified but when 20-30 men are jawwing at each other punches are going to be thrown.

It was a sucker punch, he should be gone. The kid who stomped the guy on the ground, gone. Not coming down hard on bull$hit like this is part of what is wrong w/ our society. There are things you CAN'T do, and assaulting people during a basketball game is one of them. Getting an education in exchange for playing a sport is a privlege, not a right.

Na...you don't run up and deck someone who isn't looking at you, and is engaged with someone else...in that way he wasn't in the picture of the guy he hit...complete and total B!tch move.

he needs to have his head examined, and be a spectator while someone determines why his head is broken...

lets hope the kid he sucker punched has more class than I do...this wouldn't be over...just sayin.
