He looked upset on the sidelines that he didn't get to play on Saturday. I hope Weis doesn't red-shirt him this year; don't want one to get away.

Obviously the last thing anyone wants would be for him to tranfer, but that being said, I think he should be redshirted. There's really little reason to play him this year as he is pretty much #6 on the depth chart (counting aldridge still as a rb). Its not like he will be in the 2-deep next year, so there's no need for him to gain the experience. I say redshirt him to gain a year of separation between he and Riddick.

I think the smartest thing for him to do is redshirt. gain a year of experience, plus he's down on the deph chart already. the only reason I can see him not redshirting is if he starts to return kickoffs

he should have no problem seeing the field IMO, that is, if he wants it bad enough. Riddick has shown that he can play, so he is on the field..... Wood must get his competitive fire going in practice and show that he can play. Everyone knows he could do it in HS, now we have to see if he can do it in college.

That being said, out of our RBs, Hughes and Riddick impressed me the most.

Allen seems to still try and run outside alot, and even though he says his goal is to break more tackles, he really didnt vs. nevada. Plus, a big no no for me and anyone who likes watching good RBs, is the fact that he fumbled on his first or second carry of the game. Let alone, it was a 10 yard gain at least and he fumbled out of bounds, Alford probably still chewed him in game film after seeing that.

Aldridge looked pretty good at FB, hopefully his injury doesnt ruin his season, but i really havent researched into it much yet.

Hughes? Really? Are you sure you don't mean Jonas? Did Robert even play before the 4th quarter?

I think when it is all said and done, we will all see that Wood is the best back on the roster.

Im sure.... theo didnt play RB till the fourth either, maybe the third, but he did make the best of his carries, as did hughes. Gray and Allen just didnt impress me much. This also could have been b/c they were playing against the 2nd string D. Just my opinion, but all the big ?s for the run game being legit will be answered next saturday.

Let's make that statement we are all waiting for. Just seemed like Hughes is still having issues with picking up those short yardage 3rd and 4 th downs.

I re-watched most of the game, and though Allen still heads outside most of the time, he looked much more aggressive than last year. They all looked pretty good, but Allen seemed like he could be a 20 carry back instead of a few carrys and slot plays.

Yeah, IA, I'm not feeling you there. On the replay, I thought Allen did better than I originally thought, although I still am not sold...yet. Hughes, like Riddick, also played pretty late, and he barely did anything bro. Since he was suspended for the 1st half, he didn't really get a chance to show much. But like you said, we'll see more this Saturday.

As for Cierre, usually CW hasn't redshirted RB's. Maybe he didn't have the luxury before. I was a little disappointed as well, but if he's not going to make in important contribution, then he should be redshirted. He just needs to continue to compete...

No decision yet with Wood. Riddick is getting PT mor for his return abilities than anything. I love Wood and would loveto see him play but maybe redshirting wont be so bad. Sit for a year let the older guys leave and then its his time to shine.

ya hughes had one nice carry on a 3rd and 7 i think where he gained 8 yards, besides that i don't see how he impressed. he wasnt unimpressive, but he was really only in during mop-up duty so just ran the same inside zone running play the whole time.

Theres also the outside chance that CW has a role for Wood that he chose not to reveal against nevada. Coaches tend to hold back and save certain parts of their offense for the better teams on their schedule. Not saying this is indeed the case with Cierre, but just throwing that out there.

Hughs will get his carries because Gray and Allen are the same type of back. I agree though we still did not look impressive on those 3rd and shorts. Pass protection looked good but we are still not blowing people off the ball like we should...

If Wood transfers because he has to redshirt, he's not much of a team player is he? Not sure that's the kind of player ND would want anyway.

I'd also like to know when you saw this, I have the game recorded and I'd like to check it out.

Is there any legitimate evidence that Wood is unhappy or wants to transfer other than him "looking upset" on the sideline???

I don't think so, that's why I wanted to know when it happened. Wondering if that actually happened...

I was at the game, and recorded it. I watched in Sunday and I never saw Wood on camera at all, but I may have just missed it

Come on, Weis has specifically said (as recently as depth chart was released on Tuesday) that Wood would get his touches. More specifically, he said he wasn't ready to put 2 freshman on kick return in their 1st game as freshman. We didn't get a second kick return.

Aldridge is out for 1-2 weeks. Weis said today that Gallup will practice as the other return man but there are others in the mix.

COACH WEIS: We'll use -- the way we practice is it will start off with Barry Gallup back there with Theo, and we have a number of guys that are involved in the mix. As I told you last week I'm not comfortable about putting two freshman back there, you know.
We've worked Shaq back there, Goodie back there, Robert Hughes back there, so there is a number of guys we've worked back there, but I think that having somebody kinda take charge back there is important to me because most of the time we're going to end up with the ball in Theo's hands, by our design, regardless of what they end up doing

I liked what I saw when Goodman returned that punt for 24 yards, I think it was 24.

I would presume that when gong from HS amazing to just another amazing athlete at a skill position that it would be frustrating. I'd be itching to get in there too. He'll be ok.

Darius Walker did not play in week 1....check out week 2. Different cirumcumstances, but Cierre will have his time to shine.

Maybe Wood didn't see the field because Charlie didn't want Michigan to see any film of him? I recall a RB in the recent past having a break-out type first game against Michigan a few years ago. Was it Walker? Maybe Wood sees the field this week (maybe on ST), especially with Aldridge down.

Hey just my opinion on this, look how many freshman played on Saturday, and Wood didn't get to play. He sat back on the bench. I also think that once Wood gets the experience he will be our best back.
