The kid they just drafted was throwing 93 MPH changeups last night, flicking 86 MPH sliders for fun. I was actually laughing out loud.

Kid is a stud interesting to see what they do with him next year considering they planned on using him as a starter. Do they start him off in the minors to get some starts in?

His delivery is so smooth, and that leg kick.. mercy. He will be a starter prob after a minor league stint next season.

Good to have Rodon and Bummer back.. Get them some innings to stretch out this next week for playoffs.

They've kinda lost their edge once clinching a playoff spot. Might still be a year away.

What's the point of a 93 mph changeup unless the kid throws 105 mph fastballs

He was hitting 101 and 102.

I feel like the last week of the season may have given Jose Ramirez the AL MVP and put Abreu in second or third.

Still a great season.

Abreu still performed greatly in that last week.. Final numbers..

Abreu
317/370/617 19 Homers, 76 Hits, 60RBIs OPS+166

Ramirez
292/386/607 17 Homers, 64 Hits, 46 RBIs OPS+163

numbers don't lie.

No, they don't.

Abreu wRC+ 167, wOBA 411, WAR 2.6
Ramirez wRC+ 163, wOBA 415, WAR 3.4

Abreu was stellar. Only three AL players had more PA. Defensively, he improved, albeit against a smaller sample size of only 54 games played at first, but I think those numbers ultimately pull him down a bit vs Ramirez, Trout, Rendon for the overall big picture of MVP.

He's still going to get a lot of first and second place votes. My pick would be Ramirez first, Abreu second. If I had one.

Fair enough.. He is also the only player in AL that is in top 5 of leaders in batting categories.. Would be good to see him get it.

I was against them resigning him this past winter. He certainly proved me and others wrong in that regard based on the 60 games he played in.

He and Rendon led the AL in GIDP: both had 10. LOL. Both in my top five.

What a great day. Two of my 3 best friends are A's fans. The other is a Cubs fan and the A's are his childhood back up team. Got to watch the game with one of them, had the other two on blast via text.

BTW: Their favorite NFL teams? Raiders, Cowboys & Steelers.

Feckin 70's front-runnin, bandwagon biitches!

And I'm the one who grew up two miles north of Charlie Finley's estate in LP and played for the Springfield A's. lol

Playing with house money this year, Gonna win it all a few times in the next 4 years.

My vote is for you to never have a pick. :)

Giolito unreal.. First time a starter has taken a perfect game into the 7th inning of a post season game since 2004. He's now 3-0 in starts in CA.

TA and Abreu just keep doing work. I was glad to not see Edwin or Mazara in the lineup. Engel has proven with his glove, and his bat this year, he should be in the outfield over Mazara right now. If Eloy goes today, I hope he is DH and Edwin still rides the pine.

Get to face former Shark bait, Chris Bassitt today who tore it up this year at 31 years young. Didn't remember him being 25 when he got called up with the Sox.

Good for him. He's been good since they tweeked him with a Tommy John a few seasons ago.

That one forgettable year of Shark on the Southside ended up a pretty good deal for the A's. Semien, Bassitt and even Phegley I guess as a back up definitely the better end of that deal.

2 hours to game time, GoGoSox!

No Eloy again, Ricky says he can't run but is available to pinch hit. For the love of god, why is Encarnacion playing again.. Guys colder than cold. Glad to see Engel starting again.

Playing in Oakland is usually our boogeyman, here's hoping for one more win today!

I'm not worried about today's game Dunning has shown to be good this year if he can go 3-4 innings, Crochett comes in for 2 innings, then you have Foster, Marshall, Heuer, and Bummer to finish it out whatever way they want to go. Hoping Eloy can go today.

Ricky gonna Ricky.. Will be interesting to see what other managerial faulters he makes today.. Like batting Edwin 5, and pinch hitting Collins after not batting in weeks.

Short leash Dunning.

Totally agree. Get a few innings from him and then throw the 100mph lefty, bummer, foster, heuer and hopefully colome.

I'm 3/3 so far. Unfortunately the lefty couldn't chew up another inning or two. 4 outs into the game, they have no runs and we're on our 3rd pitcher. Has to be some kind of a playoff record.

Just checking in...

Has Robert's dinger re-entered the atmosphere yet? Hopefully emergency services have a crew ready when it lands because it will need to be extinguished immediately or it will burn down the other half of NoCal.
