They have a lot of home runs in that lineup now. Home runs, despite the lingering knuckle dragging theories still lingering around baseball, are not a bad thing. Their lack of power needed to be addressed, and did they ever address it.

I hope they keep going. Get another outfielder (Not Puig), bring Yolmer Sanchez back, get a reliever (Daniel Hudson).

I don't want Puig either.. Yolmer would be good to have back for the sheer fact he can play anywhere in the infield and has a gold glove. Could stabilize defense while Madrigal acclimates. He should take a lesser contract then the Arbitration says he should get, and make an incentive based contract over that.

It is interesting to see them going for Mazara, Castellanos, Puig when they have Basabe, Rutherford and Luis Gonzalez so close to ETA for the Majors.

They need to keep that Engel guy around off the bench for defensive purposes. He couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat but he can play outfield a bit.

I want to see Luis Robert. Beyond excited to see this guy face Major League pitching.

The Chicago White Sox have a pitch lab now.

It's like when we got Mee Maw an iPhone.

They have just as good shot at winning the AL Central as anyone else. Love their lineup

93 wins means several of their kids outperformed projected outcomes at a very high level.

Mostly the pitchers, as you've stated.

These could all wind up being huge bargain deals they're getting. No other team in the Majors seems to be doing this. They did it with Anderson, Eloy, Luis Robert and now Moncada. Even if these guys bust, there isn't a huge amount of loss here. These deals are all pretty balanced and if anything, the Sox could wind up getting huge discounts if these guys even come close to hitting their ceilings.

Tell the doofus manager to stop fucking bunting, though. My God.

Interested to see how some of the fringe guys do and where they wind up once the rosters settle. Mendick, Rutherford, etc. Oh, and this Vaughn lad....do not trade him.

I think the Bummer signing is very under rated as well. $3.2 mil a year for 5 years

Looks good on paper, yes. Relief pitchers are so unreliable, though. Hard to predict what he'll be in the next five years.

Have to figure Giolito is next.

In three months they'll have the 11th pick in the Draft, probably their last high pick for a while (you would hope).

I believe this manager is going to hold them back a bit. This is the first time he's had to manage a team with expectations. His adoration of bunting unnecessarily bothers the living hell out of me and I'm not even a White Sox fan.

-Ricky is a doofus, but he's playing a huge role in these extensions. Obviously the kids want to play for him. JR is so loyal they have to know there isn't going to be another manager for awhile.

-Imo, there's a massive risk factor into these extensions, especially for a team that refuses to spend to cover their mistakes. I feel pretty confident that they're all (the extended players) going to be pretty damn good though.

Vaughn is going nowhere but first base in a season or two when Abreu slides into EE's DH spot.

I'M STOKED!
Already bought tickets to Moncada and Timmy bobblehead games!

I view Rick as a better version of John Fox for the Bears.

He's not a good in-game manager in my view, but he's been SO GOOD in building that great clubhouse chemistry. I feel things were beginning to grow toxic under the complacency of Ventura. Not quite 2014 Bears level, but definitely bad.

Also helps having a guy like Abreu on roster. Can't understate how instrumental he is in this rebuild.

Sox looked good yesterday. Always fun to walk out of Sloane with a W... w/ my 5 Cubbie fan friends. Got to see every pitcher in the organization, 9 or 10 of em.

Finally got to see Tyler Johnson and he put together an eventful 8th. Single, stolen base, walk, wild pitch-run scored and struck out the side.

They look like the '21 WS champs to me. Robert is going to win 3 MVP's, Robert is going to win 3 MVP's. Robert is going to win 3 MVP's.

Heading down the street in a few to catch them @ the Giants.

We've been fortunate in Chicago with respect to voices in sports - Harry Carey (love him or hate him), Hawk Harrelson (see Carey), Johnny Kerr, Foley & Eddie O, and Farmer was a good one too. RIP.

And that's just for you young guys.

Yep. The best wingmen in all of sports are in Chicago. Eddie O and Stone Pony.

Before both of them, Dale Tallon and Wimpy were also excellent for the Hawks & Sox.

When I was a little leaguer in the 70's, we would show up at the diamond to play pickle and practice the proper Pete Rose head first slide hours before practice or a game. At 11am or noon, Ernie HArwell would call Detroit games that we picked up out of Benton Harbor. At 1, Brickhouse would call the Cubs game, at some point we'd have practice and/or have a game and we wouldn't leave until dark while listening to Harry call the Sox game. Thankfully our concession stand had an electric outlet and a waterhose.

Baseball and the radio are one of the timelines of my life. I was even fortunate enough to live in Orange Co for two years and work down in San Diego Co. Everyday on the way home it was Vin Scully on the call. Those just happened to be Scully's final two seasons in the booth That was a real treat and I grew up HATING the Dodgers.

Definitely remember wimpy growing up. He called a few games recently. I had the game on in the background and recognized the voice after a few minutes. He was good but Hawk and Stone were great. I really enjoy Benetti and Stone too. I hope they can keep 'em both around.

Baseball broadcasters matter more than any other sport, IMO. Hockey is a close second and I hate watching the Hawks without Foley - Doc Emerick may be the only exception. Even when I go to Sox games, I can hear Hawk's voice calling out some crazy shit going on or Stone Pony talking through some strategy I stopped consdering five beers ago.

Doc and Eddie O are the best team in ANY sport. No offense to Eddie but Doc and a dirty sock would be the #1 team. Who would have thought a rural Indiana boy would turn out to be the best... and at hockey.

In regards to Stone, there's nothing better than him calling every pitch coming next depending on who's up, who's on, who's pitching w/ how many outs. He's literally an Astros cheat code without the garbage can.

I didn't listen to as many games as I watched (Hawk and Wimpy were my guys), but I always enjoyed Ed and Rooney.
For whatever reason I didn't enjoy DJ as much on the tv or radio, but he's grown on me through the years.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with DJ besides the fact he's not the human computer that is Stone, the perfectly matched, self-deprecating comedic foil to Hawk that Wimpy was or the local kid who loved all things Southside Catholic and was a perfect match for John Rooney that was Ed.

Now when I here DJ, he sounds like the Sox. Just like Brenley ended up sounding like the Cubs to me after a while.

Luis Robert is really good.

Madrigal getting hurt is a bummer. I was hoping to see him hit nothing but singles and have a slash line of 333/333/333

Fun team to watch so far. At least their lineup.

Very fun to watch for sure.. Need to shore up some of these injuries, and when Keuchel throws a 1 run gem, score a run.. Its early in a short season. Madrigal will be back in 2 weeks, at least that is what he and Hahn said yesterday. Need starting pitching to hold. Would be nice to see Dunning get a shot at the rotation with Lopez and Carlos out for a little bit. TA back next week.
