they're only 4 back in the WC. Maybe they think they can make a run with one more SP.

3/5 of our future rotation going this weekend with Lopez/Rodon/Giolito. I'm going tomorrow for Buehrle bobblehead day on my son's birthday

Terrific, hope you can get a couple for the fam. We will see who the sox call up in the next week too. Will be interesting to see if Jimenez gets the rumored late call up to see how he handles bigs pitching.

They picked a good time to get no hit for 8 2/3. Tigers are two games up on them.

Likely won't catch the top overall pick but they're primed for top three. Giolito and Lopez look good.

The one thing about this team, even though they are bad, are they are entertaining to watch, and are at least playing hard almost every game for 9 innings.. The future is bright. Moncada having a nice last couple weeks.. Hope he can keep that up as well.

Eloy up by 6/15/18?? I think so.

Giolito is a stud. He's pitching Sunday and I'll be in town. Going to swing by.

He seems to be the next heir apparent of stud sox pitcher who can't get run support.. Though this team is different then all the others.

They've lost 90 games and their GM scorched the Earth getting rid of assets. I wouldn't worry too much about him not getting run support in his first 50 innings of MLB experience while they're tanking.

And still yet the Tigers have caught up to them.

Best case scenario is that Giolito, Lopez and Fulmer keep doing well for about 6 innings. Keep Anderson and Moncada hitting/getting on base. Then have that shit show of a bullpen come in and lose the game so you're drafting top three.

As Ramsay Bolton said to Rikkon Stark: "That's the game. Easy."

Been fun to watch Moncada warming up to MLB pitching the last month. He's crediting the change of bat recommended by Abreu. Kid looks like a purebred starting to find his stride. Can't wait for him to be a .300 30Hr, 30SB guy in the near future!

This is very impressive list he joins.. He doesn't get nearly enough press.. Hope Sox keep him as a veteran presence who is great clubhouse guy and performer on the field. Joins some elite future Hall of Famers on this list

If Moncada can be a .300 hitter, he is going to be freaking scary. Him at .280 is still probably a 4 WAR player and I'd be more than happy with that.

Tim Anderson has no errors in his last 18 games, and only 1 in his last 28. He had 25 errors in his first 108. He's hitting too. Probably won't draw a walk to save his own life, but he's been far better the last two months at the plate and in the field. Promising!

Abreu is going to have intangible value that can't be measured with these young kids. Already with Lopez and Moncada we've seen examples. Plus he's doing well.

I look to the right of the slash line and hardly notice batting average anymore. When a home run counts the same as a single, there's probably a better unit of measure to be looking at. Moncada has to get the strikeouts down. Next step will be to make outs by making contact. Then not make as many outs.

If that were to happen, he literally would be one of the best players ever. Mike Trout has done that once in his career thus far, came close a few other times. But the year that he did do that, we posted the 22nd best WAR season EVER, matching some dude named Rogers Hornsby. The only modern day players to post WAR seasons better than that was Bonds HGH 73 HR season and the following year hitting 46 HRs will having an OBP near 600, and Cal Ripken's magical 1991 season.

Not sure it is fair to expect such lofty production.

I was being facetious with those numbers for Moncada.. He is progressing and looking the part that is all that matters, keep progressing.

Like Rogue said get those Strikeouts down.. 37% of his AB's are K's. That needs to change.. He will adjust hopefully. Ian Happ on the Cubs also having a solid Rookie season is at 36%. Thank god we took Fulmer the pick before him

If you average 30/30/.300, you're Willie Mays in his prime, to accomplish once it doesn't automatically make you one of the greatest players of all time. Along with Trout, Jacoby Ellsbury, Matt Kemp, Hanley Ramierez, David Wright & Ryan Braun's (2x) have done it the past 10 years or so.

Whether or not Moncada does it ever... who knows? But there are a lot of people that think he's some combination of Jimmy Rollins, Robby Cano and Jose Altuve.

If he ends up a 20SB - 30HR - .285 guy I'll be thrilled.

Sox need to try to lose and get the first pick, IDK why they are even trying at this point. I think they will end up taking a pitcher or outfielder, they could use some depth in their farm system at short or second as well

I would say they have too many guys who can actually play 2B

They need SS and CF in terms of hitters, and having more pitchers is never a bad idea, but we are especially weak with LHPs. We are pretty set in the corners and have some pretty good catchers that we should be able to get at least one big leaguer out of, and we have a ton of right handed starters. So I know you never draft for need, but it seems like our needs have lined up pretty well with who the top guys will be when we draft.

The front office is trying. Problem is everyone started producing at the same time

Their bullpen is horrible. That and everyone started producing when they blew it up. In August and September Abreu, Garcia, Anderson and Moncada have been playing well. Delmonico came up and produced. Giolito and Lopez have been better. James Shields decided not to suck.

It actually has to be somewhat annoying for their front office, coupled with Detroit pressing the rocket man button on their roster at the end of August. I don't think they get the first pick but they have to hope for top three. They don't need the Tigers, Mets and Reds catching them.

By 2019, none of them will be missed. They shouldn't be now.

Sale runs out of gas at the end of the season. He's awesome until the end.

Speak for yourself, I still get misty eyed when I glance up at my framed Black Jack jersey.

Of course, if another WS trophy comes my way, I'll put all of them in the... Thank you El Caballo category.

Getting 17-20 wins out of him before he runs out of gas sure does make it easier on the rest of the team to pick up the other wins needed to make the playoffs.

Winning another World Series > Sentiment.

At least for me.

Sorry. Let me expound on the original post.

I think Chris Sale is really fucking good. I want to make sure that's clear. I don't look at Win Loss records of starters any longer. Whatever numbers you look at with Sale, however, you know he's really fucking good. Be that as it may, he tends to hit a wall in August. I could be wrong, but it happens to guys.

He's an undisputed ace and the body of work speaks for itself, especially with all of those bad teams in Chicago not supporting him. He cruises until August. It happens. Not like what he's doing is easy. This was his first postseason. His first start didn't go well. I believe the one prior to it didn't go well either.

He's probably the AL Cy Young this year (he should absolutely win it) and could make a case for MVP (I would vote for Aaron Judge myself).

While he was with the White Sox and again this year with Boston, he gets tired at the end of the year and the quality of his starts diminish. September and October are small sample sizes. Doesn't mean he isn't great. He is.

This is all kinds of amazing. Hawk should have retired a while ago, but I'm sure I'll miss him somewhat when he is gone.
