Jason Bere was the Indians' bullpen coach last year. I don't think he's with anyone right now. Jerry Reinsdorf likes hiring guys who used to play for him to run his teams.

Truthfully, they're going to have to go looking for someone and do a little digging to find a new voice. Jerry and Kenny may not like it, but Rick Hahn is a smart enough guy to know what's going on in the game right now.

If he's allowed.

I do think that's where they're going, though. You're 100% on target in terms of who manages this club when they're ready to compete.

I 100% agree as well. It will probably be Omar managing with Joey Cora coaching 3rd and Ozzie as bench coach. Or at least one can hope.

How about Steve McCatty?

He's 64 years old and is the Triple A pitching coach. Is that the direction they want to go?

They have Richard Dotson in their farm system as a pitching coach too. He and McCatty probably have some stories to tell.

I noticed Omar has longtime Sox farmhand Matt Zeleski for the PC. Is he the one they are grooming?

I'm thinking the Guillen and Cora ship set sail. Maybe try something new with people from other organizations that have actually won something?

Or you could hire former players and be just like the Cardinals.

The White Sox are finally getting with it and not letting the game pass them by anymore. No need to regress.

I think Don Cooper has a job as long as he wants one. We'll see.

Possibly. That would be my hope if I'm a Sox fan. He's young and something different.

He was a smart pitcher but just didn't have MLB stuff. Got all the way to Triple A and stayed there. Good but didn't have the quality stuff in his arm. From the neck up he seems pretty smart to have hung around as long as he did.

His pitching coach at one time? Richard Dotson!

Eloy Jimenez went deep again yesterday.

134 AB, 11 HR in Triple A. He's 21 years old.

Meanwhile, the Brewers are ripping Jose Quintana.

Eloy is a stud. Excited to see what he does to MLB pitching. Gio pitched a lot better tonight. Got out of a nice bases loaded jam. Good to see these guys bouncing back a little bit.

Yep that was my biggest thing as i noted several times before.. I know you want service time, but i think you have to get the kid up let him build some big league confidence. THere can be a long debate over that for both sides. I think if the kid is ready, bring him up.

Paulie did an alright job. Hawk slobbered him of course. Oh Paulie, you could be really good at this because you annunciate. That's the best part, you can know how to hit, but you know how to annunciate.

Kopech starts tomorrow in Chicago vs Minnesota.

Carlos Rodon is getting pushed back for it, and who'd have thought Rodon getting pushed back would actually be a GOOD thing?

They'll get a peak at Kopech now and see what he's got. One of the drawbacks of his new found control is that Triple A hitters were pimp slapping singles off of him. Ks were still up, which is good.

I'm sure some Sox fans are putting the heat on the team to get Eloy up too, though a I doubt their front office is paying much attention to that.

Luis Gonzalez, OF, White Sox (High-A, Winston-Salem): 3-4, R, 2 2B, RBI.

He should be in AA to start the 2019 season.

the progression in the minors this year is very promising. The bigly team seems to be playing much better, so maybe the progression is there, but overall, the steps taken by key pieces outside of Rodon has been disappointing. Hopefully they are starting to turn the corner.

The best any Sox fan can hope for is seeing individual performances improve while they keep losing games. Full stop. They have 35 games left. Makes no sense for them to get hot now and play themselves out of the best possible draft slot. What is tough for the White Sox is that they have two other teams in their division rebuilding with them. Difference is they have a way better farm system right now than both. That should help them.

Calling up Kopech may not signify anything in the bigger picture other than the time for him is now. His numbers in AAA since the All Star Break prove a significant point. His low walk numbers in the last month prove that point further.

Like you guys, I've been following the individual talent in the system but I've not played armchair GM and tried to guess when this organization will have enough in the bigs to be good and then contenders.

Can they be bad again next year, keep developing the future core and get the best pick possible or will they be too good and flirt with .500?

Is '20 the contention year? Can they do it with in house pitching or will there come a time when they package some of the extra farm pieces to get a Freddy Garcia and/or a Jose Contreras to make a run?

What about a position stick? Is there any spot that the farm doesn't seem likely to fill?

In other news...

I was a sand wedge away from Paulie's house this morning at Whisper Rock. He's got quite the hacienda.

The one position i think we are thinnest at is 3rd Base. I think that will be a position addressed in upcoming offseasons. Future talent is just that, we have a lot of depth, but none have been to the bigs yet. Hope a majority of them stick but never know.

I was at the game last night. It was nice to see the parking lots filled at 6pm.. The fans were following him around the field from stretching to the bullpen. Giving him standing ovations and cheering for him. It was good to see everyone coming out to support the young kids. He got out of that nice jam in the first. I saw him hit 98 at least 2x on the gun, was consistent 96/97. That rain delay sucked.
