Anyone commenting that the Bears are going to move on from Williams after next year is probably just hating on him for having gone to SC. Who are they going to move on to? Williams is the best QB the Bears have had in the last 25 years at least. Is he elite? No not yet, but he’s not bad and certainly not bad enough to talk about moving on from a guy they drafted #1
I agree with you. However, I get the impression that Ben Johnson might be crazy and or arrogant enough to want to have his own QB in there. Granted, Caleb is Ryan Poles' guy and he's the GM, but who knows what the dynamic looks like in the next couple of years. Just speculating is all. Johnson is an interesting cat.

Caleb looks best when throwing to tight ends. Use them. You've got two good ones.

His accuracy needs to get way better. Completion % will come with that improvement. Another WR would be nice. Oduzne and Burden give them a nice pair. One more guy rounds things out I think. Loveland looks every bit as good as a tight end can look as a rookie.

They live on the edge a lot and that's their identity. I'm not going to complain. They're actually fucking winning. They beat the Packers two out of three times in 35 days.

Honestly, I think Rams are a better matchup. I'm hoping for some serious soldier field freezing cold windy city weather!
I agree. Saw someone (on twitter )posted that they are 4-3 since Thanksgiving who beat the Cardinals twice and an injured Lions team (that the Bears also lost to). They lost to the Seahawks (respectable), but also lost to the Falcons and Panthers who are both just over .500 teams.

They need their CBs to be healthy though, because Adams and Nacua are monsters.

Stafford is going to eat the defense up unless they can get any semblance of a pass rush.

agreed, normal cases I'd give us the advantage with the weather, but Stafford, Adams, and Nacua all have experience in cold weather. I'm going to say the first to 30 wins probably regardless of the weather.

I haven’t watched any Bear games this year, but this coach really hates to kick huh?

The guy singlehanded lost this game if they don’t pull it out.
Going for it on your own 20 in the first half?
Passing up multiple field goals?
This is still the old school in me and it drives me crazy. I say put the points on the board. Johnson wanted to keep possession in the first half but they went 0-3 on 4th down in the first half.

These coaches outsmart themselves by not kicking field goals and going for two too early. It's maddening sometimes. Especially in the first half. Put the points on the board.

Santos doesn't have the big massive leg, but he's been solid in key moments this year and then some.

The Stafford cold weather "experience" is not good. He's sub-500 on the road and his cold weather with rain/snow record is 1-9. His entire NFL career has been spent playing home games in a dome. If they are counting on him to put up numbers, they may be in trouble, even with the Bears defense being what it is.

The nail painting mom hugger gave his game ball back to Coach Johnson, too, BTW.

Packer fans clutching their pearls about the handshake and the post game locker room profanity have clearly forgotten about all the shit Aaron Rodgers talked for basically ever.

As a fan, outside of the Ditka years I've basically had to eat Packer shit since the Butkus/Sayers era. Been a long time, good to finally feed some shit back to them.

It's currently 2-2 in the regular season the last two seasons plus this playoff win. About as good as it gets. The Packer Fan Excuse Train is saying they beat themselves that last two, but they haven't been beating themselves against the Bears for 30 years, so I guess I'll just have to accept the results regardless.

Need D Line help in the offseason.

Polish up some of these plays and get Caleb's completion % up.

Get a little more creative if you're going to go for it on fourth down as much as you do.

Some talented offensive weapons. Loveland is an absolute beast. Oduzne and Burden should be a good tandem going forward.

Maybe substitute Monangai for Swift at the goal line, and they are still playing.

Honestly IDK the contract logistics or how that works but I'm wondering if it's just easier to release him and get him off the books and use his money elsewhere

He has a very big cap hit. They'd have to trade him.

Cole Kmet will probably need to restructure is deal. Others will have to also and other trades will need to be explored. They have $4M in cap space as it stands now.

We got 7 months to talk offseason transactions, but this is 100% accurate. That play came right out of a movie. I've never witnessed Soldier field get that quiet with the offense on the field.

Side note I randomly tailgated next to Silvy last night before he had to do his pregame show. Had some interesting conversations about the stadium developments...

There are a bunch of things you can point to and say that’s why they lost, but nothing hurt more than the short-yardage execution. When the moment demanded one or two yards, they couldn’t get it. Losing Trapillo and being forced to move Thuney to left tackle threw the entire unit off, and the impact was bigger than I anticipated.

I agree. They had more total yards, passing yards, rushing yards, first downs and time of possession. If they convert any of those fourth downs they probably win the game in regulation.

First time head coach with a second year QB. There is a lot of room to get better.

Williams really needs to improve his accuracy. Too many throws are off target with him, and it doesn't allow them to sustain drives in the manner needed. He certainly has the clutch part down, but a lot of the come from behind stuff is set up by his inability to consistently throw the ball accurately. And, with the come from behind rate this past season being key to their record/success, improving here is critical, because you can't expect the come from behind wins and the turnover rate to continue given what history tells us.
