It is my understanding that none of the children nor grandchildren want to have the team. They'll most likely be looking to cash in.

It's going to be interesting.
I had heard that they were trying to keep the team actually, this was about 5 years ago though.

There has been more internal debate among the family in more recent years.

I hope they don't sell to some massive douche oligarch.

This is the risk. A ton of my buddies have been clamoring that anyone would be better but it's a coin flip at best imo. Everyone was saying that Tepper would do great things in Carolina because he was a self-made billionaire (or whatever the heck that means) and dude has been relatively bad since taking over. Personally I like that the Bears have a tie to actual founding of the NFL through their owners, though now with Virginia gone it's quite a bit more removed. They seem like good people overall though, and that's hard to say about dang near any owner.

Trust attorneys about to cash in as well. Unless something changed, I believe all the of the grandkids having voting rights when she passed away. The consensus was that generation wants their cash. I could see a scenario where they sell most of their shares to get the cash, but keep a very small % to say they still "own" the team, and McCaskey/Halas blood runs in the org still. I wonder if they'll pull Virginia back up in a few years, like they did Mugsy after he was killed, I mean died.

Wonder if/how fact NFL now allows private equity ownership stakes plays a part in this.

Take this with a grain of salt, but this past week I was told the GC has been selected for Arlington Heights. Most (if not all) of the major hurdles have been cleared with the township.

I probably should have known this but I had no idea they lived in a very unassuming home in Des Plaines

George's hobby is umpiring little league games lol. I've not heard a bad thing about the guy from anyone who has met/run into him.

For them to buy all of that land, it was going to have to be there one way or the other.

Who? I am gonna guess Turner again, or maybe Barton Malow. Let me do some digging in my network see if this is true.. I used to run a construction company in Chicago.

I'd have to follow up on which firm, but this came through a family friend on the AH Board. I'm skeptical a GC has been selected because knowing the trades everyone and their mother would know by now.

Exactly, and some sketches would be making the rounds.

He’s thing bears can do I think Trade back pick up an extra late second. Draft Zabel, use the 3 second round picks on 2 DL, and best RB then used a 3rd round on best available WR

So the rumor on reddit is that the Arlington Heights deal will be announced tomorrow. Someone other than OP said they heard it's a done deal too. Included in the rumor is that the Bears are selling a 10% stake to help finance the stadium. Speculation is that it'll be to Private Equity since 10% is the limit that can be sold to PE.

I think I'm in the minority, but I personally like Swift. Get him a good complimentary in the 3rd round like Johnson from Iowa.

I agree, go elite edge with the 10 pick.

I think he'd be a good change of pace with another more stoutly built guy. Think David Montgomery/Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit, or the old Saints teams where they had Reggie Bush and Mark Ingram etc. I also like Kaleb Johnson out of Iowa, but everything I'm hearing leads me to think they'll be lucky to get him with their second round pick.

Don't overthink it... just take BPA at 10

I'm more concerned about the long term solution at C. With the investments in the recent days, I'd rather they draft their starting C the first 2 days of the draft. I'm hoping they are looking at Zabel and Jared Wilson real close.
