Took way too long. Should’ve happened last January.
Probably never should have been hired in the first place.

True - but as with any HC - they have final approval of how and what goes on throughout the planning, practices, and gameday. It depends on skillset. A HC has to have some CEO and real leadership qualities to him, where coordinators really just need to be ball coaches and excel at scheme/Xs and Os. Al Golden is a good example of a guy who excels at coaching ball, but didn’t necessarily succeed (at the highest level) of being the CEO type.
I think they're looking at two things: The Commanders offense this year with him as OC and his relationship with Caleb. Please no to Kliff. Dude was such a terrible HC for the Cardinals by the end of his tenure.
I'd much rather gamble on Ben Johnson being able to be a HC when we saw in Arizona that Kliff absolutely did not have what it takes. He's a good OC but not a good HC.I think they're looking at two things: The Commanders offense this year with him as OC and his relationship with Caleb.
He had the one good season in Arizona. I think if I'm going in one of those two directions, I go with Ben Johnson as a first time HC being in that Dan Campbell locker room in Detroit right now.
Kingsbury's DC hire would be absolutely huge. He would not be able to afford to miss on that.
I agree with that. I'm just not feeling it. His hiring to Arizona was weird to begin with considering his college record. I think he's a good OC but somebody is likely to give him another shot based on his offensive prowess.I'd much rather gamble on Ben Johnson being able to be a HC when we saw in Arizona that Kliff absolutely did not have what it takes. Yeah he went from fired by Texas Tech, hired by SC to be the Offensive Coordinator (and we all got scared), to the Cardinals saying "oh wait we want this fired CFB coach who could barely win 7 games with Mahomes"I agree with that. I would go with Johnson and it sounds like Johnson has expressed interest in the job.
That'll be easy if he wants control of personnel and they won't give it to him.Make Vrabel say no.
And that right there is where I stand with Poles. I've been questioning Poles all season especially when he wouldn't stop talking about how deep our OL is. I don't necessarily think he's done a bad job but building back up from a tear down is the hard part. Obviously it's easy to say this now since it's the cool thing in Chicago to hate on Poles. That'll be easy if he wants control of personnel and they won't give it to him.
There's no way they're paying him either. It would completely break the mold for them to pony up money and or control for a guy like that.
Belichick supposedly said the Bears are the most attractive job in the NFL right now. You'd assume the rest of the pack also thinks so.
They could have it all but they're not going to go against their own grain.
He has the roster, on paper, looking like the most desirable job among NFL HC openings. I think there is something to be said for that. And that right there is where I stand with Poles. Either way... Bears have to explore all the best options, and if Poles refuses to entertain Vrabel then there better be a good reason for it.
Round and round we goHe has the roster, on paper, looking like the most desirable job among NFL HC openings. I think there is something to be said for that.
I also think there is something to be said for how he ended up hiring Eberflus and now they're tasking him with potentially making a second hiring. That's Ryan Pace all over again (Fox and Nagy).
If the two finalists are really Johnson and Kingsbury, I don't even think there is a question who you go with between those two. Which is why I don't trust them to make the correct call.
I would not want to see Ben Johnson patrolling the sideline in Chicago, which is basically a ringing endorsement as far as you Bears fans are concerned1. Poles hired Eberflus not knowing that the Colts were getting ready to fire Eberflus as DC.
2. Poles reportedly would not have taken GM job had he known he'd be reporting to Kevin Warren rather than directly to ownership.
Always the Shit Show.
100% you want Kliffy, Ben sucks, I mean, he couldn’t even score more points than the Bills yesterday.the two finalists are really Johnson and Kingsbury, I don't even think there is a question who you go with between those two. Which is why I don't trust them to make the correct call.
It really does hurt to say this but there is some truth to this.... whoever the Packers love... go for that guy and vice versa lolI would not want to see Ben Johnson patrolling the sideline in Chicago, which is basically a ringing endorsement as far as you Bears fans are concerned
I truly think he's the crowned jewel of the coaching carousel. The only concern I'd have, and it's a minor one, is how competent he could be at building a staff, but the Bears have enough pieces defensively that I think the DC job would be in high demand. Johnson would be a dynamite hire.
