Better email MF. He was asked yesterday and said he didn't even know who he was.

Most fans didn’t know who the hell he was until the “Fire Parker” band got to playing. Thing is no one knows for sure why Parker minimized PA in the UL & Clemson game. We all assume Parker is dumb and doesn’t know what PA is or when to use it. It doesn’t help that he replies w/ coachspeak but maybe it was necessary to fall on the sword despite some other coach or position group not carrying their weight.

Some wanted Golden gone after last season. You can’t find them now. Not saying it was to the extent that folks want Parker gone, but going w/ a 3rd OC in 3 years has its downsides as well. MF isn’t an idiot. He knows he’s betting his future on his hirings/firings and he seems confident in Parker. Not saying I’m a fan thus far but I just don’t know all the behind the scenes details. Nobody does that’s willing to go public. Should be a fun month or so.

This is it for MF. Roll the dice on a new OC who may or may not be a fit for you, the University, and the squad already here... Or roll the dice on someone you trust for a 2nd year but is extremely unpopular with fans and potentially boosters/alum money.

Having to go in front of a camera on a weekly basis to explain my decisions to the press is something I try to imagine to keep my mind straight and always do the right thing.

I can't imagine doing it in reality. Good lord. I might just... run away.

When a freshman plays well, I think the high school coaches and the player himself deserve as much credit as the college coach. I know injuries played a role, but we didn't see enough development from any of the returning players

Loy alluded very strongly that Merriweather and James were likely gonna bounce because of him. And now it's a wait and see.

Freeman said very clearly he wasn't happy with development.

Also not sure whats clear about reports alluding to it being about his handling of players and maybe not being the best personality, then having guys like Quinn singing such high praise about him as not just a coach but a person. If you think this is a “clear” situation, you’re not paying attention.

Separation wasn't great, but our receivers haven't been great at that for a long time. Still, this was a more productive year for ND WRs from a yards standpoint compared to last season, 1,936 total yards. We hit about half that number last year, and just slightly over that number in 2021 with Austin picking up almost half of his 888 yards in 3 games. 2020 wasn't a great year. Still, this year was a big improvement from last year, even with all the injuries.

Rees and Balis. I know there’s no perfect time but one right before spring and the other the day before fall camp. Just looking for some conversation

Yeah... I was on the "Tommy Don't Leave" train.

I don't think Balis hurt us very much during the season. I also think Harry had to go no matter what and Rudolph is catching unearned shrapnel for a 1st year position coach. The line wasn't elite, but it was good and there was clear development of young guys you can't deny.

I do wish Reesus was still in his rightful place though.

I remember the complaint when Harry was fired was he favored *his* guys and nobody else. they started, and nobody else got any attention or coaching.

What I saw this season was a good/very good line that when multiple guys went down, youngins came in and did really well.

I don't know shit. Really. But as someone that just loves the game, that seems really good and a real improvement.

I don't know who gave Fish the advice to drop so much weight... maybe that was Rudolph. If it was, shame on him. But who knows?

I like what I saw out of the line this year in totality.

Pretty clear at this point you can't trust any reporting/narrative with MF at the helm. Been alot of spin on every hire/big decision since he got the job.

Just want to reiterate the above. The beat only relays what they are fed and current ND football leadership seem very concerned with controlling narrative.

We were in a less awful but similar position as Penn State with their left tackle. However for being first time starters I thought the guards did improve and have a lot of promise. Fisher was a major letdown for me. Not that he was bad but I expected him to be a pro prospect after this season. I'm really optimistic for the group next year even after losing Alt. Bounceback for Fisher and the interior line having more experience. Wagner or Jagusah or whoever plays the other tackle will be at least a top tier recruit I'd assume.

All cool brother. I think Freeman’s quote about the situation was definitely clear and pointed. I am just questioning the abruptness of it all, then all of the contradictory information being put out by everyone not names Marcus Freeman. Reports he was a great guy and obviously from reaction on social media a lot of guys in his room really liked him. Then you hear conflicting information that his players didn't like him and it was so bad they had to cut ties immediately or risk losing guys. Then you see a statement like that from BQ, and again have to ask if they dont have somebody lined up, why fire him right before he signs his recruiting class if it was just about development.
If just seems…off. This time last year some thought we might lose him to the NFL. If anything i think relative to the talent of the position group, OL underperformed more than the injured and already thin WR group.

I’m not for or against the parting ways, and I can understand people expecting more development from some of these guys. I just think the timing and different information going around is confusing.

If nothing changes except the WR coach, or a shuffling of responsibility between Parker and Guduigli, I'm not on board. If that minimal shuffling occurs, my prediction is that Stuckey will have the last laugh this time next year when it's clear he was the sacrificial lamb and we're rearranging the chairs on the offensive Titanic yet again.

Interesting take by BQ. Wonder if he’s posting out his ass or if he knows something more. I’m a bit curious how a guy that recruits so well allegedly doesn’t connect with players. Not that I know more than Brady, but Freeman must feel it’s best to replace him for a reason. The TF that he recruited certainly shined. Not sure what to make of the previous regimes guys lack of production.

Something just seems off here. So abrupt, obviously not mutual, and so many different conflicting accounts of him and his relationships with players. Do his guys like him or not like him? good guy or not? If players like him and its about development either you have somebody tee’d up already or why do this now?

Didn't Freeman say "he would like to have everyone back" and not that everyone will be back? Without a rumor or rumblings, my guess is this probably boils down to something pretty simple, like they had a discussion about coaching the WR's and Freeman didn't like what he heard. Another possibility would be a Freeman wanting to change Stuckey's duties and Stuckey said no?

I agree. I’m starting to wonder if there may be something non-football related that precipitated his dismissal. As you say, it seems off.

The only thing with this is if that was the case, wouldn't Stuckey quietly take his lashings and just exit quietly into the night? Instead, he's reportedly unhappy about the firing. Makes me think it really was a difference of philosophy or opinion that led to this.

Agree 100% If I'm Freeman and James and Tobias were the only two guys who said they wouldn't be back then I would be like okay there's the door good luck. They think it was hard now? They ain't gonna be happy when Cam Williams is starting at Texas A&M day 1. He is that good. So these upperclassmen who think their Sh*t don't stink are gonna be in for a rude of awakening. Either bust your ass and compete or go play for IU and go 3-7.

I think ppl are putting too much weight into MF's words. He's not BK, he's not savvy, he says what's easiest at the time too often. BK the politician, like him or not, would have answered in a way that moved on from the question but also left the door open for exactly what happened.

Freeman doesn't strike me as someone who's good at peeking around the corner.
