I don’t see us falling that far personally, but the lack of a good win will hurt us so it’s possible. Season comes down to Miami once again.

This far into the season ND has to drop that far with our SOS and lack of quality wins. You have to give teams like UCLA, Utah and Texas Tech the benefit of the doubt while they're still all undefeated. They'll play each other and it will work out in the wash, but ND is deserving of no better than #9-#11 right now. They'll have every opportunity to work their way back into the top 6 by season's end, but right now they just have to worry about fielding a functional offense ahead of Miami.

I think the problem is there are a lot of very good/good teams but not elite teams. Before this game I assumed we were "elite" and would have a very solid chance in the playoffs. After tonight I think it is gonna be a 12 team free for all which obviously makes our chances less certain(assuming we find a way in )
After watching us play with our heads up our asses and only lose by 4 on the road, if we can get our shit together we’ll be fine. But there’s so little evidence this team and coaching staff is capable of that sadly.

I don’t disagree but that’s not what voters actually do

If you’re Marcus Freeman and you’re a HC who isn’t a scheme guy and is more of a CEO, you have to have coordinators who you can trust to do the job.

He had that in Al Golden. Ash…he’s got it in spurts. He never had it with Gerry. And now he absolutely cannot trust Denbrock. Not at all.

Bring in Charlie Jr and light it up.
Charlie is too explosive. Marcus wants to play boring Tressel ball and win games 17-6.

Until Carr puts it together against an actual team, I don’t think you can put ND over anyone in the top 10.

He’s 1-3 against teams worth a fuck. And, in his one win, he played like shit.

He’s incredibly overrated, he clearly gets in his head for big games. To be noted, his next best opponent was Pitt last year where he also played like shit.
I think Riley Leonard would have been at worst 3-1 in those 4 games

Chris Ash is trash.

This coaching stuff fucked around and found out, by keeping the most athletic offensive weapons sidelined for #reasons. Put Burress out there, give Walton a few more carries. Bubba Frazier needs a jet sweep. Maximize your best talent. Instead, we keep relying on the same 2-3 guys.

CJ Carr isn't taking us to a title. I'm absolutely positive because his misses critical throws. He overthrew his receivers all night. I really like Carr, I think he's really good against 95% of college teams but he presses too much.

This might be the worst loss in terms of talent differential. Our defense looked lost out there. A defense full of NFL talent lost to BYU. The offense looked poor most of the night. When the team needed them to step up, after the interception, they go 3 and out. Getting down the field on BYU was difficult even with 4 downs.

I'm using this forum to come to grips with the disappointment but the good news is I get to wake up tomorrow and be a little less invested in something that is truly unimportant to the rest

At least most of you sons-a-bitches don’t live around and work with momos. Never gonna hear the end of this
Haha - but they’re still moes - easy peasy

Shit happens. Sometimes shit happens for a reason. We know who we are now. Leave no doubt is still real, we just took a lump.

Everything we want is still in front of us. With in our control. Hurts but we’re not done.

Who is next…
Miami beat will be favored by 7+ at our home field

Everyone has pretty much hit every point.. The one other thing I’d add is I absolutely hated the RB rotation tonight.. no one got on a heater.

Also, CJ lost this game. We can talk about Denbrock but CJ left 17, possibly 21 points off the board with the spike fumble & multiple overthrows.

Normally I’m distraught after a loss like this but I’m just so used to being let down by this fucking program that I’ve just accepted it.

The season rests on Miami.. and SMU will be a tough out as well.

But even if we get into the playoffs I don’t think we have the horses to win it. Look what Bear just did to us & think about how much pain a kid like Chambliss would inflict.

LAX mentioned it.. But our wideouts can’t create separation & Denbrock can’t scheme it so CJ has to be perfect. And he was far from it tonight.

MFMF gonna have a lot of time to evaluate the next two weeks. Enjoy that second half offensive film, buddy.

Coach-speak to the media, is fine. But as a football coach if you watch and can defend that 2H playcalling, go ahead and go to the NFL or anywhere in CFB. Bye.

We played a poor game and coached a poor game against a highly motivated team, and still had a chance to win.

Refs screwed us with no calls all game for their o-line holding and their DBs holding our WRs.

One of the most frustrating losses I can recall watching in 40 years of ND fandom.

Bottom line, we left room for doubt, and it bit us

ND lost to #8. That was the best loss of all those top 10 losses. Teams like UCLA aren't going to pass all of them and there's no particular reason they should only pass ND. I agree with you in theory but there's no way it's going to happen in reality.

Herbstreit sucks! He must be drunk or take his dog on walks during most of the game. Love it at end when he said ND will likely have to kick the FG for OT.

They've left no doubt... That they missed the playoffs last year and are a lesser version of that team this year without their two 1st round talents at RB. Still a quality team, but they don't have "that guy" offensively when the competition ramps up.

Thing is, no they don’t, at all,… Bama, UGA, Miami, Hell USC,,, drop forty on them
TT took them to the woodshed twice last year and TT fucking sucked. BYU is not good and they will get prison raped in the playoffs. This was a game we clearly lost, the game was on our racquet and fucking CHOKED. A legit powerhouse would have shoved BYU into a locker after that comical fake punt. We got 3 points.
