As someone who has a cousin competing in the Olympic Trials this weekend, and knowing he has worked his *** off as much as any individual on the planet for this one shot at an Olympic berth and hopefully a medal--let alone gold....this is weird. Too weird.

People devout their entire lives to making the Olympic team. So this is actually borderline insulting. My cousin was the national champion in 2009 (blew his knee out in 2010), but the World Championships are nothing compared to the Olympics. It's such a huge deal, for her to turn it down...she has to have a penis. That's all I'm saying.

Congrats on your cousin making it at least that far.What event does he compete in?
As for Griner,there is wayyyy too much smoke. Who misses the Olympics because of a 'family illness'...give me a break. I guess we'll know for sure in 4 more years when she makes some other dumb excuse for missing it.

I think all of what you point out reflects a young man who is still developing physically and mentally. He needs us because he will be treated like a man and not a piece of meat that some young men are treated like in the slaughterhouse of modern day college football. His mom realizes that...hence her efforts. I just hope Brtiney does.
