ONE MORE YEAR... Let's see what he can do with a full recruiting cycle, his first class wasn't really his class, let him finish this with his players

dskouche.....Thanks for that but I am not making myself look silly, and I am in the know....I didn't look at the ratings, I am talking about what I see, the Pac 10 is soft (with the exception of our opponent Saturday Stanford, SC, and Oregon) put the pac 10 up against the SEC and SEC wins more games, period....and in most years, (granted, not this one) the Big 12 would also beat them.

i just want someone who is gonna win us a championship! i think charlie could do it if we had a defense that could half ass stop the run. CW is not the major problem. i understand he is the head coach but the blame shouldnt be placed only on his shoulders!
ummm...it is the head coach's job to build such a defense and he has had five years to do so.

Come on Swarsbick, listen to the fan base... WE ALL WANT CHARLIE BACK!

Not all of us.
If you feel that modern is post 1890, then sure. The job is not getting done.
man just sitting back and reading this thread has got me laughing.
I think i am at peace now, no matter the decision i will support our coach in 2010, whomever it may be.
Im just wondering what all of the people who have charlie already fired are gonna do if he stays? lolz i think i might have to check the boards that day.

ummm Really? The last I checked they hire defensive coordinators to do this. Yes he is the head coach so that means he hired the people who was in charge of building the defense. As the head coach he should have done a better job at addressing the issues. The problem is they don't have an Offensive coordinator so he spent much more time with the offense than the defense.
Coach Weis 2010
coach weis 2010?
you just outlined perfectly why he is not head coaching material....lots of head coaches are more involved in one side of the ball. it doesnt absolve them of addressing other aspects of the team.
Ima Chuck fan like you. And I've also made peace with the fact he'll be gone but man Im gonna miss him and some of these assistants too. I think Charlie is pretty much the epitome of a man you'd want to send your kid to. Maybe my Niners could get him for the OC job, but thats whole another team n topic.
No offense man, but the next thing you'll want to do after you check the boards "after finding out that Charlie Weis has been retained" is surround yourself with family and friends because you'll haved progressed from mildly delusional to completely and utterly insane.
oh no if hes retained ill be fine, i think the people that want him gone will need to do what you just mentioned.
If he's retained, I'll root for ND. But honestly, I'll be pretty certain that at this time next year we will be having the same discussion on the board. With certain people still wanting him gone, others waking to that fact, and some still saying it's not his fault and he needs more time because we don't want Dayne Crist transferring. This is deja vu.
My point is, we are ending the season and the squad still struggles with the same problems. The HC should realize that despite schemes, if something isn't working, stop trying to fit that square peg in the round hole and get it working. That D should spend whole practices on how to tackle. If the "great hire" is having problems, it is the HC's job to help sort it out.
This is exactly why I feel we should keep Charlie! The problems with this team are both a) obvious and b)very fixable with time. You can't teach a defense to tackle in a week. I don't care if you're Mike "God" Ditka himself (and why isn't his name on anybody's list?) its a job for the off-season. If we get rid of the fancy defensive schemes and spend the offseason working on fundamentals, those last minute losses could easily turn into 10 point wins. On the other hand, if we rip up the whole playbook, bring in somebody new who spends more time coaching his new system and learning who his players are, who knows where we'll be next year.
