I see over on the Rivals UM site that the posters have a couple posted titled "Great News on Martin". This must mean that he has solidified his commitment to UM. I will hope this is wrong, but may be the beginning of the end for this guy coming to ND>

this kid might still come our way, so dont count him out. said he was really blown away by his visit to scUM, but still will be visiting on 2/2 from what i have heard. if they are visiting, there is a chance. i owuld still like to get another solid interior DLineman. though i think we are doing well with hafis, newman, and especially ethan johnson.

I am glad he ended it when he did. No hard feelings at all. He knew he wanted MI so he stopped wasting our time and did not take the official. You lose some you win most. Go Irish

Thats a good perspective to have when it comes to recruiting high school kids. You've gotta rememember, yea, they are 18 years olds, but its got to be pretty intimidating to call Charlie and tell him that you are in fact choosing not to come to ND. Give the kid a break, like Kaplan said, atleast he didn't drag this thing out till NSD and allows Charlie and Co. to change direction or focus on someone else. You've gotta admitt, that was a respectable and mature way to handle things on his part.

I agree, he decided he wanted to stay with UM and he let the coaches know. It doesn't really matter if he called them or not. As far as textinggoes I thought that's what all 17-18 were doing these days . And wasn't Charlie one of the biggest believers in texting recruits during the no call periods.
