I don't see how he can credibly take the blame though. Like what's he going to say? Yeah- it was obvious that my players weren't able to execute my game plan in these conditions but I completely refused to change the scheme because I don't believe weather should be an excuse? Unfortunately, ND has been a "laughingstock" since Holtz left. The rest of college football laughs at us and thinks we're delusional as a fanbase. Can't say I blame them, we've been trying to recapture glory from a previous century for awhile now.

Honestly, we're 2-4. Currently listed with like 5 players going in the 1st 2 rounds. Possibly the top QB in CFB and #1 pick. Year 7 of his tenure. I mean the list of who would have a better record under the same circumstances is miles long. And I mean miles long.

Herman is still unproven himself. He is getting beat by Navy as we speak. But he will probably get paid a bunch of money by Texas soon.

As far as a proven replacement... not probably going to find a proven HC that would be willing to come to ND - whatever proven really means anyways.

Make a run at a guy like Venables, get an innovative OC who understands how to manipulate defenses but isn't afraid to line up and punch you in the mouth running the ball, hit the recruiting trail and weight room, and see what happens. I would bet that after seven years, the program would be better than where Kelly currently is seven years in.

Holtz was playing much tougher schedules as well. 1986-1992 we always had one of the best 5-10 schedules in the country.

How many Top 5 wins did Lou have just between 88-93? How many does Kelly have over seven years?

Good stuff. I'd say that's viable.

I highly doubt that BK is fired, unless he is burn out and really wants to be gone. One name I haven't seen on here is Justin Fuente at Va Tech. Anyone see what he's doing in year one with a roster full of no names? Making $3.2 million right now.
