Keep Sanford, Lyght, and Denson. Sanford as HC.

Serious thought process here. Do you think jack would can him after a let's say 8-4 season? I think going 8-4 puts him on the hot seat ala les miles. Do something in 2017 or your gone. I'm confident BVG will go, probably not mid year but he's gone after the regular season.
I'm done with BK. I appreciate what he did for ND but I didn't like the hire from the get go. Way to smug and dense for my liking.
Herman is the obvious go to but I don't know how realistic that is. Any other viable options?
As much as I liked Lyght as a player, our secondary is horrendous. Poor technique and fundamentals goes right back to his coaching.
I mean can it get any worse. We're 1-4 in the last 5. After putting more than a handful of last year's players in the NFL. Loaded with talent. A QB who is top 5 in CFB. The list goes on and on.Are you seriously advocating hiring a guy with zero head coaching experience to take over this program?
Spot on.As much as I liked Lyght as a player, our secondary is horrendous. Poor technique and fundamentals goes right back to his coaching.
Why would Herman want to come to Notre Dame with the limited talent pool the administration allows to be accepted to the football team.
Myer rejected ND offer because they would not give him the number of academic allowances he was looking for:
Why would Herman want to come to Notre Dame? When there are frankly better and easier jobs that could be available. LSU, USC, etc

Well at least 1 of us believes what you posted.I remembered why I stopped coming to this site on game days, it's full of whiney ass bitches. Jesus Christ pull your sacks out your stomachs.
And Philip you're the absolute worst.
We lost, BVG isn't a great D coord, Kelly is still a great coach for the program and it is what it is...
Sorry, but BK is done. ND should be done with him too. Honestly, if we are serious about being able to win a NC, then we need someone who can complete the final steps. ND is going backwards now.

I would take Sanford as HC with Pelini as DC. Sanford is an up and comer, and ND isn't going to land a whale for a HC. Pelini would be rock solid for the D, and Sanford, while lacking big boy experience, has a decent chance to rise to the occasion. I'd prefer a BK/BP team, but I think BK has too many loyalties on staff to do what is needed.
This paired with the fact they just got done paying Weiss years after he was employed is why he won't be fired any time soon. So the question(s) now is when and who does he get to fix the D? And when and who does he allow someone else to call the plays and let Kizer free. The thing is, they are NOT serious about winning a national championship. They are serious about academics and if we can win a NC that's great too.

If Les Miles gets fired, would you want Notre Dame to hire him?

And from a university standpoint that's the way it should be. From a fans standpoint we always want the team to win.
Heck if KSU didn't get upset in 2012. ND could very well have won the National Championship that year. So classroom success and field success can happen. It just may be tougher.

The academic excuse is dubious. How much better are MSU's recruiting classes than ours? Their coach does more with less.

Academic standard is the legit. The recruiting pool for Notre Dame is smaller than the majority FBS peg rams. I've mentioned it a million times, but the reason Urban didn't accept the ND is because he he administration would not budge on the number of academic allowances he wanted. Truth be told Lou Holtz received a large number of allowances, which is the major reason he was successful. Brain Kelly has more than Weis, but less than Holtz.
Yes. I think we all acknowledge Dantonio is a better coach.
