Sad, but probably true.

40 Bowl games this year man.... 40.... So 80 Teams are going to a bowl out of 130 football teams you get mediocre teams going to mediocre bowls.

In perspective, in 1980 there were 15 Bowl games 138 FBS teams

5 Georgia plays #7 Baylor
6 Oregon plays #8 Wisconsin
7 Baylor plays #5 Georgia
8 Wisconsin plays #6 Oregon
9 Florida plays #24 Virginia
10 Penn St. - beat Temple 53-39
11 Utah plays Unranked Texas
12 Auburn plays #18 Minnesota

13 Alabama plays #14 Michigan
14 Michigan Plays #13 Alabama
15 Notre Dame - beat Unranked Iowa St 33-9
16 Iowa - beat Unranked #22 USC 49-24

Everyone above us has two losses and now Oklahoma except for three loss Wisconsin, Auburn, Virginia, Utah and Michigan.

As far as us moving into the Top Ten, we would be solidly in it if Baylor (+7), Wisconsin (-1.5), Utah (-6), and Minnesota (+10) lose. In this scenario, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State and the winner of Alabama-Michigan finishes ahead of us. Alabama is favored by 7 over Michigan. Does a two loss #4 Oklahoma (28-63 to LSU) finish ahead of us?

As far as anyone jumping us, Iowa beat Iowa State by 1. Minnesota would to a dominating win over Auburn.

I get that and I don't care if there are 50 bowl games...the best games should be the last games. Don't finish fight night with the undercard.

I had no idea the Orange Bowl was tonight, BEFORE Jan 1. That’s unthinkable for me.

Is #14 for Virginia related to Kyle Hamilton? They have very similar builds and they just showed his picture without his helmet and he looks a lot like Kyle.

So ND dominated an 11 win Navy team? I know people love to say USC was our best win but I think that distinction goes to Navy. Louisville looked good and though they lost, so did Virginia. I think ND was better than their 2 losses made them look this year.

Utah’s players would hate me as a coach. The are so sloppy. They need to be smacked in the back of the head.

Hook ‘me Horns. No way a 3 loss Pac12 team should be ranked ahead of our boys.

In all reality tho,... I think the Big12 showing they can't toast bread makes a great argument for us.
We will get a bit more love for it.

I dunno. Barring utter routs in the Sugar or Rose Bowls, I think we jump Utah and the Michigan-Bama loser and that’s it. 13th. Maybe we get to 12th if Minnesota beats Auburn close.
It’s bullshit because, really, who has Baylor or Wisconsin beaten? Or even Florida. But we were basically cast off the island after the Michigan game and the poll powers don’t like to penalize teams for losing to good teams. So Baylor and Wisconsin will stay ahead of us even with more losses and comparable/lesser wins. Because they won their divisions and lost twice to playoff teams.

Edit: Actually I'd pick Baylor to beat Georgia because Georgia gives no fucks about games like this. Georgia of course will then finish 6th or 7th, because SEC.

Bama’s front seven is looks to be the worst I’ve seen under Saban in recent memory. I was hoping Bama would obliterate them & I read where Saban put them through a tough week of practice to ensure they were focused.

Credit scUM for being more physicial at the LOS w/ their OL. Patterson is still overrated IMO so they better hope they can maintain their run game.

After losing the pac 12 champ they checked out I think

Disagree. They had plenty of opportunities but have blown each one. They got lit up by SC’s third string QB but the media insisted it was an anomaly and they still had one of the best Ds in the country. Then Oregon hammers them for an easy win and there’s still media out there lauding their D as one of the best. So they should have little problem w/ a 7-5 Texas who struggled all season, right? No, UT beats them by 4 TDs. If they’re still ranked above ND w/ three losses (none of them close), I don’t know what to think anymore.

I know what to think. The system is rigged and flawed. Voters choose who to champion for various reasons. ND rarely fits the requirements so we get the shaft.

Bama too much for scUM even though the Tide didn't even play well. Mac Jones is not very good. Shea Patterson is downright bad.

Minnesota about to wrap up a nice win over a perennially over-ranked Auburn team. Will the Gophers jump us? Both 11-2.

Gophers will jump us because of course they will. Auburn will stay ahead of us because SEC. Bama will climb. Michigan will stay ahead of us because they beat us. Maybe maybe we jump Utah to 14th, likely the lowest-ranked 11 win power-program team ever.

That's OK though. Keep the hype down heading into next year. High expectations are Notre Dame's kryptonite. We can fly under the radar until Nov. 7.

We’re already 14 in the AP and Coaches. That’s where the final rankings will come from

Using the Coaches Poll rankings, I think we will jump #10 Utah and #13 Auburn for sure. Will jump #11 Wisconsin if they lose but not sure we will jump #6 Oregon unless they get blown out. Might also jump #8 Baylor if they get blown out but no way we jump #5 Georgia. As questioned earlier, does #16 Minnesota ump us? So we can finish anywhere from #10 (if all the stars align) or #13 if we get jumped by Minnesota. I think we end up two spots higher at #12.

I hope you’re right but my guess is that they look at who has the better wins/tougher schedule. I predict Auburn & Minnesota will be ranked higher than ND. Minnesota has at least two better wins than ND so I get that.

Doug Farmer who covers ND for NBSSports was adamant that Utah has one of the best defenses in the country despite “one bad night” & that Michigan will be ranked higher than ND w/ twice as many losses b/c of head-to-head. He’s been quiet since the Utah beatdown.

Then Doug Farmer is a dumbass. If that had anything to do with it then South Carolina would be above Georgia, Minnesota would be above Penn State, etc. A 9-4 Michigan who lost their last two games and one in a blowout will not be above 11-2 Notre Dame who won their last 6...especially since they were back to back in the rankings prior to their bowl games. I will bet all my vbucks on it.
