Bowl Projections

ASU lost 9 of 11 starters on defense from last year; which is an insane level of turn-over.

DE: Tuitt
NG: Nix
DE: Day
DOG: Smith
MLB: Fox
MLB: Calabrese
CAT: Shembo
CB: Jackson
CB: Russell
S: Farley
S: Collinsworth

One could argue Notre Dame did too. Sure, Farley and Collinsworth are on the roster, and Russell might be, but Collinsworth was injured and Farley moved to NB.

But we haven't given up 62 points in a game yet.

Yeah our defense did not have a lot of good players last year, and the good players were being used poorly. So glad we have BVG now.

Yeah our defense did not have a lot of good players last year,

Six players left (Tuitt, Nix, Shembo, Fox, Calabrese, Jackson) and four of them were drafted. Only one is currently out of the league.

and the good players were being used poorly.

A brief search Google search (could be wrong) tells me that the scoring defense ranked 20th in 2013. I wouldn't call that a poor performance, perhaps you're judging the strategy, but I think that's unfair considering how hurt the DL was (Tuitt/Nix/Day played like 13 snaps together all season).

So glad we have BVG now.

So am I, but I think it's a fair question to ask how much success he'd have had in 2012 and 2013. How well would Nix do in a 4-2-5? Where is the stacked DB corp to run a 4-2-5?

Fox was released last week by the Giants.

I've also seen two Cotton Bowl projections vs Baylor this week as well.

I saw Peach Bowl vs. East Carolina predicted today. That is still a New Year's Day bowl. (Sugar, Rose, Fiesta, Cotton, Orange, Peach)

It's time to go Bowling.

With our tie-in to ACC bowls, we have quite the selection to choose from (or be chosen to). If we were in the ACC, we would have finished T-6th with NC State & Boston College.

We have selection status to 5 bowls:

1) Sun Bowl vs 5th in PAC-12 (Utah or USC)
2) Belk Bowl vs 4th-9th SEC
3) Music City Bowl vs 4th-9th SEC
4) TaxSlayer Bowl vs 4th-9th SEC
5) Pinstripe Bowl vs Big TEN (between Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers or Penn State)

Or we could follow a different path and pick a different game not affiliated with ACC. I don't know if we can, but it may be an option.

Belk Bowl would be hilarious. A mid-level SEC team would kick our teeth down our throat for shits and giggles and I would get to go to the game!

At this point, it would probably be Tennessee.

Which would be cool. Two former UC head coaches battling in NC.

Or could be Texas A&M.

I'd prefer Tennessee. They just seem more interesting/less douchey. Confidence shot in our team for tonight, so no guessing from me which gives a us a better chance to win.

Honestly, with the way the injuries have absolutely eviscerated this team, and how shot their confidence is, I'd be surprised if they could beat either A&M or Tennessee. They'd probably give up 60+ to either team. I wish I was kidding, but this team went straight to shite really damn quick.

Man, screw that list. Don't want to go to Pinstripe again, even though that's where we belong. Don't want to face an SEC team with our defense completely injured. Definitely don't want to face USC again or Utah. Prospects aren't looking good. Bring on Maryland?

Arkansas, LSU and Texas A&M would rout ND.
Tennessee and South Carolina would be winnable games, but I think the Irish would be an underdog against both..

I bet we will play Tennessee on the Music City Bowl.

I'd like to avoid the SEC because all of their bowl eligible teams besides maybe Tennessee would kill us.
