Plenty of interesting maychups out there. Not sure if we will accept though. This team is the best 6 loss/6 win team out there. 6 losses by a total of 25 points etc.? Not sure the players will want to go without Charlie. I would just like to see ND play again. It's a long time to next September. Gve Jimmy and Golden a chance to run up some mor big numbers. Just not the "Little Ceasars Bowl". Maybe the Chick Filee bowl or Enchirito bowl.

6 wins say we deserve to go. Will we go? I have no idea. Selfishly, I want ND to go because I love watching ND football, even mediocre ND football, and I love watching Clausen, Tate, Floyd and a healthy Rudolph, and Manti Te'o on defense.

But if we do go, be prepared to hear everyone ripping ND for playing in a 3rd tier bowl. You know it's coming if we do...

If you get an offer, you should go. I'm with NDinLA, I want to see ND football no matter what. Of course I prefer winning, but even when we suck, I'm watching anyway. I'm just into self-torture that way!! Who cares what anyone else says or thinks?

Say ND loses the bowl game? So what? What is there to lose, really? It's worth it, in my book, for the practice reps and for guys to see the field again. People were saying the same thing last year and they ND goes out and waxes Hawaii and probably lands Teo in th process.

I was all for the hawaii bowl last year. the players and coaches needed the confidence. and charlie needed to show everyone he deserved another year.

this year is completely different. so much needs to be done with the new coach coming in. playing in the little ceasars bowl is number 73 on the list of things that need to be done.

just a small commentary here on Bowl games themselves. i personally like the bowl format however I do not like how advertising has overtaken them. Sure the Peach, Motor City, Hall of Fame, Tangerine, and Citrus bowls may not be on the same level as the Rose Bowl or Sugar bowl but thos games sounded a lot better when they actually seemed important and they werent the chik-fil-a bowl or the little ceasers pizza bowl or the capital one bowl. I dont mind the advertising sponsoring it but to change the name of the whole game just to sponsor is very lame to me.

I think it would be incredibly dumb to decline a bowl offer. Who are we? Too good to play in the pizza bowl?? We have to accept the fact that we had another bad season and take our postseason game for the following...

1) We will win it, and maybe even convincingly... This group of guys showed last year that they can win a bowl game.
2) One last hoorah for the seniors and those that may be on to the NFL. Clausen and Tate are historic to ND and it would be a shame not to let them put on another show.
3) On the opposite side of the spectrum, throw in some new guys. Get the young players some in-game experience. If we get up big, throw in the complete second string, it could only do good in getting ready for next season.
4) It doesn't matter who the coach is. This is about the players.
5) Recruiting. Another chance to play on a national stage, in another city. Anytime the team is together and traveling to different areas to play football, it is a good thing for recruiting.
6) Money, we win any bowl game, we get scholarship money.
7) The fans! Plenty of ND faithful will be in attendence. I know I want to see Clausen throwing sweet bombs to Tate one more time.

Your missing my point, if Notre Dame aren't bowl worthy, how long will it be before NBC pull the plug on their deal with us, if NBC were to "pull the plug" thats alot of money down the pan, we get more than our share of TV coverage because of our "partner"!!!

We're in a unique position with NBC, which is why we can stay independent, and why most of the country hate us!

1) We will win it? We've lost 4 straight. Nothing is a guaranteed W this year.

2) One last hoorah was last night.

3) The new players will have plenty of time to improve starting in January

4) It damn well matters who the coach is. A whole new staff is probably coming in. The last thing this team needs is a bowl game. The new coach and staff has far greater concerns (***recruiting**, building rapport with players, getting acclomated, etc.). These are 3 of hundreds of things that need to be done early and fast, all of which hold greater importance for the players.

5) Recruiting. This is Notre Dame. We don't need to play florida state in the pizza bowl for recruiting. The coaches need to evaluate who we have, who is staying on board, and who is on the fence.

6) Money? If you think the University of Notre Dame needs money you're completely unaware of the school's books...

7) The fans deserve better than to watch ND go to another crapshoot bowl and watch another QB/ HB have a career day


2009 is done. Expectations high. Results disappointing. New coach. New staff. Lot of work to do. Bowl game is useless

The reason i was excited about the Hawaii Bowl last year was only that it was on Christmas Eve, got to drink spiked eggnog with the whole family and cheer vs. listening to crappy music and the kids screaming.

Any other low-tier bowl vs. W. Michigan, SMU, etc. will not be half the fun. I will watch them anytime, but not as enthusiastically.

I don't want it to be the norm, obviously, but the Hawaii Bowl is fine with me. It has to be a ton of fun for the kids, Teo gets a free and early flight home to cure the home-sickness, and i get a free Christmas Present.
