Seems like they are going to be in the driver's seat to make the NC after today's events. I don't see any way the NC isn't Oregon + Boise or Boise + best SEC. There is no way OSU makes it back in the discussion over a one loss SEC team after that performance tonight.
It also appears the only teams that can keep them out right now are probably Oklahoma and Auburn... and maybe an LSU or Missouri or Michigan State if they were to go on a crazy run.
This bothers me for so many reasons... but mostly because had Boise State never beaten Oklahoma on that trick play they never would be given the pre-season credit they now get each year by default. The fact is they beat a crappy VT team that plays in a crappy ACC and a middling PAC10 team... and the rest of their schedule is basically FCS caliber. How does 2 mediocre wins and 10 joke games get you in the national championship discussion? They couldn't survive our first 6 games undefeated much less an SEC schedule and everyone knows it... yet mathematically they are in such a good position if the teams around them keep losing in the BCS formula.
I wonder if they win the NC if that will finally get a playoff in college football.
