Why the vitriol against Boise? I agree, even if they'd won, they probably didn't deserve to play in the NC game, but why are you guys reveling in it so much? Did I miss something they did wrong?

Because there were a whole lot of people on this site who ripped the OSU president for his comments. We were amongst the minority in agreeing with the president, and it's nice to see our point proven correct that BSU has no place in the national championship game. I don't want to speak for others though; this is just my take.

Boise to the Kraft fight hunger bowl where they will lose because this season is ruined for them. TCU will now play Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, unless Auburn loses in the SEC Championship game.

I still think the OSU president made an *** of himself. Nevada is as good a team as any his school played all this year; I guarantee a Wisconsin-Nevada game would be close. If you want to look at an embarrassing schedule, go no further than pOSU's.

Boise choked, just like Alabama choked yesterday. I still think they're as talented as anyone in the nation and Kellen Moore is an absolute stud. That late pass was one of the finest plays I've ever seen in college football, and he hit two receivers in the hands in OT.

I dont understand the Boise hate here. Honestly since ND wasnt going anywhere near the BCS this year for me personally this extinguishes any interest in the National Championship for me.

It's not that I don't like Boise, it's the fact that I despise the BCS system. I want absolute mayhem in the BCS Rankings every week. If UConn makes it to a BCS game, there should be riots.

Bosie State is still one hell of a team... still one of the ten best in the country without question... this just goes to show there are good teams on their schedule... (people seem to overlook Nevada's top 20 ranking... or just think it didn't count because they are Nevada, which is stupid)... It will never be looked at this way but last night should have been a compliment top Nevada and that conference instead of a laugher at Bosie.

I am glad they lost though, not because I hate them or anything but I don't want to see people crying about someone getting left out, now if LSU can lose then beat Auburn (or whoever it is playing AUburn in the SEC title game) all will be right with the world

How does this "prove your point"? OSU's, Oregon's, and Wisconsin's schedules are still about as weak as Boise's and TCU's!

All this proved is that the WAC has TWO teams better than the any one in the ACC. Can you prove different?

This was a huge game for Nevada. All anyone around here could talk about for 2 solid weeks. Great win for the Pack. And it isn't fair to compare them to the team we beat 20 some games ago. The biggest change is that Kapernick learned how to throw over the spring and summer - huge difference. This team is much improved and a real top 20 team. Ask Cal.

Nevada Wolf Pack, Boise State Broncos put on a show in Reno - ESPN

I thought this was a really good article.

Also, I watched the Auburn vs Alabama game and I watched the Boise vs Nevada game. The product on the field was very similar, the best of the WAC is about= to the best of the SEC.

I pretty much agree, there is more quality in the SEC but it is not world's above like most seem to think... and if Auburn played in the WAC everyone would dog their defense out non-stop for being so poor, yet somehow just having the name Auburn and playing in the SEC suddenly makes having one of the worst passing defenses in the top 25 okay...

whatever, honestly this kind of stuff (and a meaningful reg. season) is exactly what makes cfb so great.

If only Nevada hadn't lost to Hawai'i.... can you imagine the discussions we'd be having now?

I'm glad Nevada won because now ESPN will stop sucking BSU's teet. I never thought Boise was all that and a bag of potato chips. Everyone talked about how their defense was so good this year but the truth is they hadn't been tested besides one game nearly 3 months ago.

Boise can definitely play with anyone, but there is no way they would run the table in the SEC, PAC10, Big Ten or BIG12. The ACC and Big East are a different story.

I don't hate Boise State, but I'm revelling in their loss for a couple of reasons:

1. Like ACamp, I don't want to spend the offseason listening to the BS about some mid-major being left out of the NC game.

2. I'm tired of hearing about how Boise would do just as well in one of the Big Boy Conferences. By Big Boy Conferences, I am talking about the Big Ten, the SEC, and the PAC-10. Boise wants the same respect as the OSUs, Alabamas, and USCs of the world.... based on a relatively few years of sustained success. BYU went, what, 4 years without a loss in the 80s, before they got their NC? Boise has been crying for years, that no one will come play them on the blue turf. Then we find out that they wanted $1 million, to go to Lincoln, Nebraska and play. How much were they going to pay Nebraska to come to Boise? I doubt it was even half of that. I've heard nothing but whining from Boise State, and this loss just keeps that whining out of the spotlight.

I guarantee you that you haven't heard any whining from Boise's coach or players.

Also, the Nebraska game was supposed to be a road-home-road series for Boise. Nebraska and Boise would pay each other for the road games. Boise wanted 1 mil for their second road game, which seems more than fair considering Nebraska ended up giving Idaho 800 thousand for a game. I think we can all agree that Boise deserves a little more than Idaho, yes?

I would love to see either of these teams take on Michigan's D. That would be fun and I think we could all agree on that.

Boise shouldn't get any respect until they start playing better opponents. Change conferences if they have to.

There's nothing that can bring Notre Dame fans together like one simple message: Michigan sucks.

If they want to get treated like a big time school, then start acting like one. You don't see big programs demanding 1mil+ for playing a road game. And Boise's a better team than Idaho obviously, but that doesn't mean they deserve more. A real team shouldn't have to demand money like a cupcake team does knowing they are about to get smoked on the road. Oregon States a better team than Idaho, yes? How much did they ask for from Boise?

A big time school wouldn't leak the details of a contract negotiation.

More to the point, you're kidding yourself if you think any of these schools travel for free or don't negotiate over money. ND would never play a away-home-away series with anybody, so the comparisons a little irrelevant, but you better believe we're scheduling Miami, for example, because we expect to make well over $1 million per game from that series.

Regardless, it's a moot point now, though TCU may very well revive the debate if Auburn loses in the SEC championship game. The "little sisters of the poor" comment that started this conversation was clearly out of line for a University president, especially because Ohio State's schedule is nothing to brag about this year. Nor is Oregon's, for that matter.

To clear up why I was thrilled with a Boise St. loss--It's nothing personal with Boise, they didn't do anything wrong to warrant my hatred. They are the new Tim Tebow in my opinion. Tebow was a class act and one hell of a human being, but I can only take so much of it being shoved down my throat before I become tired and can't wait to see them fail. That is why I'm happy about Boise's loss, I don't have to hear it anymore.

Happy they lost because Boise/TCU are becoming the new Louisville/WVU of 2005-2007 where they could play no one and ride a high preaseason ranking the entire year.

No, not arbitrarily, no. To my way of thinking, it would depend on the need for a game to fill the schedule. Maybe Idaho got 800,000 because Nebraska was desperate to fill a slot in their schedule. This is the problem with the business of sports, and what will ultimately do it in; people talk about money personally. A player makes negotiations personal, because their ego won't allow them to take less money than another player that they think they are better than. Instead of looking at what it is worth, we try to make it a respect/disrespect thing.

BTW, Dan Hawkins used to whine all the time, about teams not wanting to play in Boise.

Side note... did anyone else pull a 'wtf' during and after the kick to end regulation...

it looked good... for sure... and I swear I saw the official under that upright raise his hands signaling the kick was good not just watching it live but in the replay as well...

interesting ending either way... good game.

I actually looked it up before I saw your post. Found a good article, basically, impossible to tell based on the TV angle, so we've got to trust the ref's judgment*. Very good points made in the article though that it's stupid for us to have to trust the refs judgment at this point in time. Higher goal-posts with a loose net directly attached, or something else creative, should take the ref's judgment out of the equation.

I couldn't see the ref under the upright, so I don't know what he signaled.
